Television personality Jang Sung-kyu apologized once again, directly mentioning the so-called "K.Will memorial photo controversy" that erupted during a live broadcast of MariTel V2 six years ago. It was an unfortunate incident that was shocking even to the person involved, Jeong Hyung Don.
In a video titled "By the way, which side is the brake?" uploaded on the YouTube channel "Manri Jang Sung-kyu" on the 16th, K.Will recalled, "The schedule vehicle had many accidents. Don't you have one you know about?" and talked with Jang Sung-kyu about the traffic accident that occurred on the Gyeongbu Expressway in September 2019.
At the time, the van K.Will was riding in crashed into the central divider in a major accident, and the stylist who was riding with him was injured. K.Will and his manager also underwent detailed examinations at the hospital. The problem was that at the same time, another of K.Will's managers was appearing on MBC's MariTel V2, which was being broadcast live.
On the broadcast, K.Will's manager lost a game, and Jeong Hyung Don, who was with Jang Sung-kyu, drew a black line on K.Will's photo with a brush as a prank that evoked a memorial portrait. Coincidentally, K.Will had actually been seriously injured in a traffic accident. When news that K.Will had been in a traffic accident spread, criticism followed that Jeong Hyung Don's prank had been careless.
K.Will recalled the situation, saying, "It rained heavily and the car skidded on the highway. But at that time, a scene aired where a line was drawn on the manager's face on the broadcast, and the accident news coincided with it, creating misunderstanding." In response, Jang Sung-kyu said bitterly, "There was a traffic accident, yet a memorial photo ended up being made," and added, "I was sorry for a long time. I'm still sorry," apologizing.
Jeong Hyung Don also apologized, saying, "First, I apologize for causing concern to many people due to an unfortunate incident," and "The incident that occurred during the MariTel V2 internet live broadcast was my fault. I sincerely reflect on having crossed the line out of a simple desire for comedy, and I contacted K.Will directly to convey my apology."
He continued, "Above all, because it happened during a live broadcast, I acted without knowing at all about K.Will's traffic accident, so I feel even more sorry," and "After the internet live broadcast I realized there were problems with my words and actions. From now on, I will try to show a more careful and responsible attitude. I once again sincerely apologize," bowing his head repeatedly.
Although the controversy was an unfortunate coincidence that occurred during a live broadcast, it was a great shock to Jeong Hyung Don and he must have blamed himself. Already suffering from anxiety disorder, he said, "I felt that the anxiety disorder I had suffered for a long time has recently become severe again," and took another break a year after the controversy. Jang Sung-kyu also publicly apologized again, saying even after six years, "an unforgettable and regrettable memory," drawing attention.
