Actor Han So-hee spoke about working with Jeon Jong-seo on the film "Project Y" at an open talk for the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
On the morning of the 18th, an open talk for the 30th Busan International Film Festival was held on the outdoor stage of the Busan Cinema Center. Attending to discuss the film Project Y (director Lee Hwan) were actors Han So-hee, Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Sung-chul, Jung Young-joo, Lee Jae-kyun, YooA (Oh My Girl) and director Lee Hwan.
"Project Y" is a film that tells the story of Miseon (Han So-hee) and Dokyung (Jeon Jong-seo), who had nothing but each other, stealing hidden black money and gold bullion to escape their bottomed-out reality. Earlier, it drew attention after being officially invited to the Special Presentation section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.
As soon as she greeted the audience, a cheer of "Han So-hee fighting!" erupted from the seats, prompting laughter. Han So-hee responded to the fans' support with a smile. She also expressed pride about the local reaction in Toronto, saying, "There were many scenes we filmed while laughing. I especially remember enjoying the scene with Seok-gu (played by Lee Jae-kyun). It was very rewarding to have everyone laugh together in those scenes, and it made watching the film even more enjoyable. The screening at the Toronto festival was the first time we properly saw it. The response was good. People laughed at the key moments and watched it well, so the film screening ended in a good atmosphere."
In fact, "Project Y" sold out all seats as soon as tickets opened at the 30th Busan International Film Festival, proving the anticipation. On choosing "Project Y," Han So-hee said, "When I read the script, I felt the youths' stories were grounded." She added, "Miseon and Dokyung have different methods and means, but they share the same goal. Their willingness to throw themselves in without hesitation to achieve that goal felt fresh to me."
She spoke about the chemistry with Jeon Jong-seo, saying, "Dokyung and Miseon have a relationship that can break the notion that blood is thicker than water. In any case, both Dokyung and Miseon clearly share the same goals for the life they dream of. I think that as these friends lived life closely together, they formed a mutually supportive and complementary relationship," raising expectations.
The 30th Busan International Film Festival runs through the 26th around the Busan Cinema Center area.
