'Ulzzang Era' alum influencer Hong Young-gi opened up about her feelings during her premarital pregnancy.

That day, at the "Pajama Sister Party," influencer Hong Young-gi and Sanbeom appeared as guests. Kim Ddolddol asked, "How did you feel when you found out you were pregnant at a young age?" and Hong Young-gi said, "But I honestly only thought I was screwed. Really," she confessed.
Sanbeom asked, "Why?" in bewilderment, and Hong Young-gi said, "My husband was a high school student!" He said, "My husband was in high school and I was at a time when my career was really taking off. And I wondered, 'How do I tell my parents?' The second thought was, 'How do I tell my family about this?'"
Kim Ddolddol said, "You could get a backhand slap," and Hong Young-gi nodded, saying, "I was so afraid of that." On the other hand, Sanbeom said, "My husband is nine years older than me, but he was actually at the right age for marriage. We were dating, and during the relationship we sometimes took pregnancy tests; if one line appeared, we'd think it's one line and carry on with daily life. But secretly I felt disappointed. When two lines appeared, I felt really good. I think I had been secretly waiting for it," he said.
Kim Ddolddol asked, "How did people around you react? When did you tell your mother and father?" and Hong Young-gi recalled, "About three days after I knew I was pregnant. I thought it's better to get the beating over with quickly. When I told my father, he just said, 'Hmm, okay, it's fine.' My father was actually the scariest. And my mother is a devout Christian. She came back from a church retreat and suddenly hugged me tightly and said, 'Another evangelist said you're crying. What's wrong? Tell me everything, mom is fine.' Thinking it was my chance, I said, 'Mom, I'm pregnant.' But then she pushed me away, said, 'What?' and went into her room for three days and didn't come out," she recalled of her parents' reaction.
She said, "My mother-in-law thought, 'Isn't this because my son was a high school student when she became pregnant?' So my mother-in-law was devastated," and added, "Actually, persuasion didn't work on me. It wasn't that I wanted to get married because I loved my husband so much; life itself was precious. So I had no choice. I just had to give birth. So I said I would give birth, and from my mother's perspective, it was an extremely difficult time."
When asked, "Your husband must have been embarrassed," she replied, "He said he was just happy. I even asked him recently, 'What did you really feel back then?' and he said, 'I was happy. It didn't bother me, I was happy,' so I realized I was the only one agonizing. My mother was devastated, but my husband was simply happy—just three words," she said with bitterness.
Meanwhile, Kim Ddolddol cautiously asked, "Was there anything people said after the premarital pregnancy that hurt you the most? You must have received many malicious comments, especially since it was so long ago for Young-gi," and Hong Young-gi replied, "I think what hurt the most was that I had revealed I was a Christian and I still am. But the fact that a Christian had a premarital pregnancy was something. I felt it was hard that people criticized Christianity because of me. It was just my choice, but people acted like that, and I felt like I had brought shame to the religion because of me," she said, finally shedding tears.
Hong Young-gi caused a stir in 2012 when she became pregnant out of wedlock at the age of 21. To take responsibility for the child, she registered the marriage with both families' consent and welcomed her first son in April 2013, but because her husband at the time, Lee Se-yong, was 18 when she became pregnant, the birth was revealed belatedly in 2014. She later gave birth to a second son in 2015, becoming the mother of two children.
