The Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE). The achievement drew more attention because executive committee chairman Kim Jun-ho delayed his honeymoon after getting married and devoted himself to the work.
The Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee (executive committee chairman Kim Jun-ho) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (director Park Chang-sik) on the 16th at the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange in Sangam-dong, Mapo District, Seoul, and will begin full-scale cooperation to promote international cultural exchange and the continued spread of the Korean wave.
The two organizations agreed to build a joint cooperation system aimed at revitalizing international cultural exchange and the global spread of performing arts. In addition, they plan to continue sustained collaboration in various areas such as planning and promoting international cultural exchange and Korean wave-related projects, developing joint projects, and promoting culture and exchange.
In particular, this agreement is significant because it brings together the Busan International Comedy Festival, now in its 13th year and established as a leading comedy festival in Asia, and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, a national institution specializing in cultural exchange between countries. It is expected to not only contribute to the international spread of varied performance content but also provide an opportunity to showcase the diverse appeal of the Korean wave to global audiences.
Kim Jun-ho, executive committee chairman of the Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee, said he expects global cultural communication through comedy to become more active and added that he will continue to meet more overseas audiences through this agreement. Park Chang-sik, director of the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, said he hopes the cooperation with the Busan International Comedy Festival will broaden the scope of international cultural exchange and achieve positive results in spreading the Korean wave.
Meanwhile, the Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee plans to continuously pursue concrete and practical collaboration such as jointly planned performances, international exchange projects, and promotional cooperation following this agreement.
