The comic action film Boss (director Ra Hee-chan, produced by HYBEMEDIACORP Co., Ltd., distributed by HYBEMEDIACORP Co., Ltd. and Mindmark Co., Ltd.), which is being highlighted as this year's must-see comedy for Chuseok, released a character trailer showcasing the comedic charms of its diverse characters.
The film Boss, scheduled to open Oct. 3 (Fri), released a character trailer that focuses attention by presenting the full-of-personality charms and distinctive laugh points of Jo Woo-jin, Jung Kyung-ho, Park Ji-hwan and Lee Gyu-hyung. Boss is a comic action film that depicts the desperate battle of organization members who fiercely "yield" the boss position to one another for the sake of their own dreams as the selection of the next boss—on which the organization's future depends—approaches.
The released character trailer raises immersion from the start by revealing the weighty charisma of Korea's leading actor Lee Sung-min and hinting that a boss showdown for the next boss seat will unfold with the line "The next generation after me will be one of you."
Reports about the "sikgupa" that flow from the news and the dazzling actions of "Soon-tae" (Jo Woo-jin), "Kang-pyo" (Jung Kyung-ho) and "Pan-ho" (Park Ji-hwan), who are counted among the candidates for the organization's next boss, follow in succession and foreshadow the opening of the next boss war, but unexpectedly they encounter unforeseen situations.
Soon-tae, the organization's second-in-command and a part-time chef, reveals his ambition saying, "I want to take over the whole country with my touch of flavor," and refuses the next boss position. Kang-pyo, a leading candidate for the next boss, likewise avoids the position as he falls into tango as if by fate with the line "The dance chose me," creating laughs by showing that no one wants the boss seat.
As the situation unexpectedly shifts from a next boss war into a next boss "yielding" war, offering freshness through its inverted concept, the absurd and innocent 모습 of Pan-ho, who alone yearns for the boss seat but is eliminated from candidacy, adds to the unique characters' comedic and varied charms.
In addition, undercover police officer Tae-gyu (Lee Gyu-hyung), who infiltrated the "sikgupa," mounts an intelligence operation to take down the organization using hidden cameras, saying, "My intel was not wrong," and his clumsy, somehow lacking demeanor amplifies the character's appeal. Amid an unprecedented boss "yielding" war in which the loser becomes the boss, the line "So, who is the next boss?!" conveys Soon-tae's desperate wish to never become boss, provoking laughter until the end and heightening curiosity about how the film will conclude.
Boss, which released a character trailer filled with the flawless chemistry of its acting ensemble and the comic charms of its diverse characters, is set to open in theaters on Oct. 3 (Fri).
