Lee Byung-hun, who served as the sole host of the opening ceremony of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, expressed his relief at having completed the event safely.
On the afternoon of the 18th, actor Lee Byung-hun appeared at the red carpet of the 34th Buil Film Awards held at Signiel Busan in Haeundae-gu, Busan, and spoke to reporters.
Lee Byung-hun was the sole host at the previous day's opening ceremony, and the opening film No Other Choice, in which he appears, was shown to domestic audiences for the first time.
He said candidly, "I feel much more at ease today. I really felt yesterday how hosting as an MC is not an ordinary job," which drew laughter.
He added, "It was a gathering with filmmakers from around the world, and with more than 3,000 film people seated in the audience, I was more nervous than ever and worried I might make a mistake," then confessed, "I was very happy that it went by without any big mistakes, and I was glad to be able to stand on stage to celebrate the 30th anniversary."
Regarding the fact that the film No Other Choice was shown for the first time domestically, he said, "I was very curious. We also watched the film with audiences in Venice and Toronto. I was so curious to see how Korean audiences would react, and I was glad to be able to spend a time like yesterday."
The MCs for the 34th Buil Film Awards are actors Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee. Earlier, Kim Nam-gil had boldly said, "I will try to change the course of how the event is run." When told this, Lee Byung-hun asked, "Did Kim Nam-gil say that?" and then joked, "He usually speaks loudly. Maybe it won't be a big deal," drawing laughter.
