tvN 'Handsome Guys' Cha Tae-hyun looks back at his own appearance 30 years after his debut.
tvN 'Handsome Guys' (directors Ryu Ho-jin, Yoon In-hoe, Lee Seung-hwan/hereafter 'Handsomez') is a cheerful variety show about five men who were without lack suddenly becoming "lacking." The five men fight their way through this challenge with spirited efforts. The raw laughter likely to surface in situations of "deficiency" and the members' well-developed chemistry explode into synergy and are receiving favorable reviews.
In the 41st episode airing today (18th), 'Handsomez' Cha Tae-hyun, Kim Dong-hyun, Lee Yi-kyung, Shin Seung-ho and Oh Sang-wook face a "fashion shortage" life in which only shabby white T-shirts, gaudy pajama pants and three-stripe slippers are distributed, and they struggle to overcome a lack of confidence that keeps making them want to find a mouse hole.
At the same time, the "Handsomez" fashion-deprived are given golden(?) opportunities to snag decent outfits. That day the production team offers a variety of games, starting with the first game to choose pajama types, "drink cola and hold in a burp the longest," followed by games with clothing shopping vouchers at stake such as "lower a rubber band quickly using only facial muscles," "put on pants quickly without using hands," "mouth soccer," and "attach a low-frequency massager and stack snack towers," and Cha Tae-hyun, Kim Dong-hyun, Lee Yi-kyung, Shin Seung-ho and Oh Sang-wook, desperate to escape pajama humiliation, mobilize their limbs and facial muscles to provoke roars of laughter.
Meanwhile, Cha Tae-hyun draws attention by complaining of an unexpected reality check. During the "lower a rubber band quickly using only facial muscles" game, when a rubber band got caught on Cha Tae-hyun's chin and showed no sign of coming down, he asked his younger members for a skeletal diagnosis, saying, "Is my chin a shovel chin?" Waiting his turn, Kim Dong-hyun reportedly surrendered early, saying, "If your chin is that bad, mine will never come down," prompting laughter from those around him.
Meanwhile, Oh Sang-wook stands tall as the undisputed master of "length usage." Challenging the "put on pants quickly without using hands" game, Oh Sang-wook brought out his specialty, the lunge. While the other members roll on the floor and make a commotion using nearby terrain and objects, only Oh Sang-wook walks the solemn "lunge-only" path, making everyone clutch their stomachs with laughter.
To win outfits, they immediately set aside their handsomeness and mobilize their facial muscles and limbs, raising curiosity about the desperate exploits of 'Handsomez' Cha Tae-hyun, Kim Dong-hyun, Lee Yi-kyung, Shin Seung-ho and Oh Sang-wook.
