The best new actor awards at the 34th Busan Ilbo Film Awards went to Choi Hyun-jin and Lee Hye-ri.
On the afternoon of the 18th at Signiel Busan in Haeundae District, Busan, the 34th Busan Ilbo Film Awards opened with actors Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee as hosts.
First, the awards began with the new actor awards. The best new actor award went to Choi Hyun-jin for the film "When Summer Passes."
Choi Hyun-jin said, "I'm really surprised and nervous; as I came here today, memories of the hot summer we filmed three years ago flashed through my mind. I want to thank the actors and staff who worked hard during filming."
She continued, "I filmed "When Summer Passes" during a time when even I couldn't read my own feelings. I'm grateful to the director," and added, "I also want to thank my agency and the studio who worked hard as the film was released. Finally, I want to thank my parents who chased after me while I acted as the son. I will be dutiful."
The best new actress award went to Lee Hye-ri for the film "Victory." Lee Hye-ri said, "Wow, I received the new actress award. This is truly such a happy day. While playing Pil-seon I received a lot of comfort. It was a film in which I wanted to give consolation and support, but I think I received support instead. I sincerely thank the CEO of Annapurna, the director, and the staff who let me keep believing and play Pil-seon."
Hye-ri said, "While filming this movie I want to say thank you to actor Park Se-wan. I relied on and received a lot of support from her. I want to sincerely thank my close friend Park Se-wan, and share this joy with Millennium Girls. I'm so happy."
She added, "I'm truly grateful to the staff and company people who helped me receive this award. I want to be a proud daughter and older sister to my family watching at home. I will work hard at acting from now on to become an actor who makes a mark on Korean cinema."
