Actress Song Ji-hyo's screen comeback after five years, Man-nam-ui Jip (director Cha Jeong-yun, produced by Gojip Studio, distributed by Mano Entertainment Co.), has confirmed its Oct. 15 release and unveiled a calm, warm teaser trailer suited for autumn.
Actress Song Ji-hyo chose Man-nam-ui Jip as her screen comeback after five years, and with the Oct. 15 release approaching, a teaser trailer with a calm, warm atmosphere was released. Man-nam-ui Jip is a human drama that depicts a sunny kind of bond created by the first meddling in life of Tae-jeo, a 15-year veteran FM corrections officer.
The released teaser trailer begins with 15-year veteran FM corrections officer Tae-jeo (Song Ji-hyo) performing her assigned duties in a cold, expressionless manner, appearing exhausted.
Against the bleak and quiet backdrop of the prison, Tae-jeo's line, "This is not a place to grant people's requests," conveys Tae-jeo's isolation and loneliness as she avoids forming relationships with inmates and treats her duties with surgical precision. Like Tae-jeo, Jun-young (Do Young-seo) appears to lead a bright school life, but similarly avoids friends who invite him to eat together and forces an awkward smile, seeming to feel loneliness from a hidden secret. Prisoner No. 432, who was incarcerated for eight years and is Jun-young's mother Mi-young (Ok Ji-young), also seems to feel guilt for not properly caring for her adolescent daughter as she leans against the prison wall, prompting curiosity about the stories of the three people isolated for their own reasons.
The phrase "a sunny bond connected by an inmate mother" raises curiosity about the relationship between the three people formed following Mi-young (Ok Ji-young)'s mother's funeral. Tae-jeo's urgent call of "Jun-young!" as she spots Jun-young from a moving car heightens expectations for how the relationship between the two, connected through Mi-young, will develop, and increases interest in how actress Song Ji-hyo, returning to the screen after five years, will portray the new character of female prison officer Tae-jeo.
In particular, Jun-young's line, "I didn't do anything to deserve this; did I do something wrong? I end up thinking that," reveals the complex and subtle emotions toward Mi-young, whom he hasn't met for eight years, evoking sympathy for Jun-young and raising expectations for how the film will warmly portray the three people's relationship.
Man-nam-ui Jip, which released a teaser trailer that makes viewers anticipate a lonely autumn and warm comfort, will be in theaters on Oct. 15.
