Actress Son Ye-jin recalled her first memory of the Busan International Film Festival at the Actors House event of the 30th Busan International Film Festival.
On the afternoon of the 18th, the Son Ye-jin Actors House of the 30th Busan International Film Festival took place at the Shinhan Card Hall in Sohyang Theater at Dongseo University in Busan. Son Ye-jin attended and talked about her filmography with Baek Eun-ha, director of the Actor Research Institute.
Son Ye-jin debuted in 1999 through a commercial. She also appeared in the opening film of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, the movie "No Other Choice" (director Park Chan-wook), adding significance.
So when was Son Ye-jin's first Busan in her memory? Son Ye-jin said, "To be honest, I don't remember the first time. I only remember the dress. What dress to wear, how much to diet, and how low-cut the outfit should be are very important," she joked.
She said, "Everyone goes on a harsh diet before the festival. All actresses are the same. I remember wearing a very voluminous dress, and actresses walking the red carpet one by one. I didn't have a special film then; I just remember attending. I think I was in my late 20s."
Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin's co-star in "No Other Choice," who closely observed her body management, was also astonished. Director Baek Eun-ha said, "Lee Byung-hun said he was impressed by Son Ye-jin's process of getting her body in shape. Is she an athlete or an actress? He felt a dedication to the profession beyond simple beauty," expressing surprise. In response, Son Ye-jin said, "I train my body to almost a torture level," and clicked her tongue in astonishment.
However, she laughed, "After the opening ceremony yesterday, I went to my lodging and it was midnight. I hurriedly ordered room service and fell asleep as soon as I ate."
