Yoona comes, Lee Junho follows. The new tvN weekend drama "Taepung Sangsa" released moving posters of the two youths embodying the spirit of the typhoon, Lee Junho and Kim Min-ha.
The new tvN weekend drama "Taepung Sangsa" (directed by Na Jung Lee and Dong-hwi Kim, written by Hyun Jang, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginus·Studio PIC·Tris Studio) portrays the struggling growth of novice company man "Kang Taepung" (Lee Junho), who becomes the president of a trading company with no employees, no money and nothing left to sell during the 1997 IMF. And alongside him stands ace accountant "Oh Miseon" (Kim Min-ha), who will be reborn as a professional company man and walk the path of survival.
The moving poster released today (18th) sharply highlights the contrast between the two youths with different dispositions. First, rookie president Kang Taepung acts on his instincts, as implied by the copy "I trust my gut." Even amid crisis, he does not lose composure or his smile, and that is why he can keep running without giving up. By contrast, ace accountant Oh Miseon says, "I trust my logic," analyzing and resolving situations with reason and logic. With a cool yet decisive gaze as she instructs Kang Taepung, she radiates a logical aura.
The explosive synergy created when an action-oriented person and a logical thinker meet is expected to be the driving force that navigates the typhoon of the IMF era. This becomes even clearer through the actors' explanations. Lee Junho said, "Kang Taepung and Oh Miseon are opposites in their life paths, personalities and ways of thinking," and added, "They seem to have no common ground, but I think precisely because of that they can become better partners for each other."
He added that he hopes, "Seeing two completely different people go through hardships and joys together at Taepung Sangsa and grow each other will bring viewers pleasant smiles," and expressed the expectation that "through Kang Taepung and Oh Miseon, feelings of excitement and trembling, support and consolation and other emotions will be conveyed."
Kim Min-ha said, "I think the synergy of the two youths is tremendous. The ideas they come up with together can save the company, and the combined unwillingness to give up ultimately helps them stand back up," and explained, "This passionate feeling was sometimes very beautiful and at times pitiful. That complex emotion seems to be the core of the story that drives this work."
She also offered a different perspective, saying, "Kang Taepung and Oh Miseon often experience ups and downs. But those moments feel like genuinely honest emotions, so they seemed pretty and precious to me." She added, "There is a tendency to view ups and downs somewhat negatively, but I think those emotions make you stronger. So in the end they become a great driving force that lets you try harder and rise together." "I acted with sincerity so that these honest portrayals of the two youths would lead to growth and prompt viewers to cheer for them," she said.
A passionate survival story of ordinary people who kept their places and did not stop living even during a crisis that struck Korea as if the world had ended, and the special synergy created when an action-oriented person with good instincts meets a logical thinker is expected to deliver a striking resonance to home audiences. The new tvN weekend drama "Taepung Sangsa," following the currently popular "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty," will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 9:20 p.m.
