After becoming a father by having a child out of wedlock with model Moon Gabi and recently marrying his longtime partner in a hush-hush ceremony, actor Jung Woo-sung (52) will appear in public for the first time in a year since the controversy over his private life.
According to industry sources on the 18th, Jung Woo-sung will attend a handprinting event for the 33rd Buil Film Awards ceremony at 5 p.m. that day at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom. Jung was invited in his capacity as last year's best actor winner for the film "12.12: The Day." He will also serve as a presenter for the best actor award.
This will be Jung Woo-sung's first official appearance before the press in about a year since his acknowledgment of a child born out of wedlock in Nov. last year.
At the time, Jung Woo-sung acknowledged that he is the biological father of the son born by model Moon Gabi. He said he and Moon, while continuing to see each other without a formal relationship, conceived a child, and Moon chose to be "a single mom." Jung was said to have promised financial support as a father.
Then last month, he completed a marriage registration with a non-celebrity woman. His agency said, "As this concerns personal privacy, it is difficult to confirm," but the entertainment industry believes Jung married a woman he had dated for a long time.
The Buil Film Awards, first launched in 1958, are the country's first film awards, and have continued for 18 years since their resumption in 2008.
