Group (G)I-DLE member Yuqi teamed up with MIYEON for her first single activities.
(G)I-DLE (MIYEON, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua) Yuqi spoke about the production process of her first single "Motivation" on MIYEON's web variety show 'Miyeonzip MIYEON' released on the 16th.
MIYEON celebrated the release of "Motivation," saying "I always look forward to Yuqi's solo. She is the person who has grown the most among those I've seen," and warmly welcomed Yuqi. Yuqi then explained, "The title track 'M.O.' is an abbreviation of 'Motivation,' which means driving force. It's hip-hop, old-school, and an emotional song," and performed the live stage of 'M.O.'
Yuqi said, "I hope when people think of old-school girl idols of this era, they think of Yuqi. I also composed, wrote lyrics, and produced this time," and explained, "The B-side 'It Hurts' was created capturing the nighttime emotions when I was deeply into romance movies. I talked with the music video director about the lyrics and wrote them to fit the music video I wanted to shoot."
A touching anecdote hidden behind Yuqi's tearful acting in the 'It Hurts' music video was also revealed. Yuqi said, "I was worried I might not be able to cry because I've never acted properly. For the scene where I read the letter, we were originally going to use a blank paper, but when we started filming it had been changed to a letter written by my mother. The manager said they had prepared it for a month. I cried a lot," expressing her gratitude.
Afterward, Yuqi captured attention by singing her March digital single "Radio (Dum-Dum)" released this year and Bruno Mars' "Treasure" as duets with MIYEON.
Having released her first single "Motivation," Yuqi will meet fans on various music shows starting with Mnet's M Countdown on the 18th.
