"Just Makeup" has unveiled the full lineup of MCs, judges and contestants.
Coupang Play variety show "Just Makeup" is a mega makeup survival show where makeup artists who represent K-beauty not only in Korea but globally fiercely compete with their own styles, and it will premiere on Oct. 3.
A video introducing MC Lee Hyori, confirmed as the host, was released and once again drew attention. Participants who learned that the MC was Lee Hyori said, "she is a beauty icon, a fashion icon, a diva of a generation," "times change but Lee Hyori does not," "of course she should be the MC," offering praise and welcoming the appearance of a K-beauty icon. Lee Hyori is expected to stand out as a host who deeply understands the contestants' passion and individuality by sharply identifying makeup points and easing the tension on site with her trademark wit.
The judges are made up of four makeup experts who lead K-beauty trends. Jung Saem-mool, the pioneer of transparent makeup, expressed admiration at the overwhelming scale of the best artists gathered in one place, and is previewed to take on judging with a sharp gaze. Seok Ok-eun, a master of K-pop makeup, heightened the tension by delivering a stern pledge, "I will judge solely on skill," and beauty creator Lee Sa-bae, the "thousand faces," expressed her emotion, saying, "I am so happy to be able to boast such work." In addition, brand makeup master Lee Jin-soo said he would evaluate from various perspectives based on product planning and field experience, raising the tension about the intense judging battle that the four judges with different viewpoints and standards will create.
The lineup of 60 contestants challenging the "Just Makeup" survival was also revealed. In the video, contestants' nicknames appear engraved one by one on brushes, increasing anticipation. The show teases a massive makeup showdown featuring 60 artists representing each field, including the first celebrity-dedicated makeup artist "Genie, 37 years and counting," the global brand's first male senior artist in Asia "Mactist," the "New York master" of the world's four major fashion weeks, and the 2.3 million king-of-puffs creator "short-form king."
