Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun foreshadow the birth of a visual power couple.
The KBS2 new Saturday-Sunday miniseries Last Summer, written by Jeon Yu-ri, directed by Min Yeon-hong, and produced by Monster Union and Slingshot Studio, set to premiere Nov. 1 at 9:20 p.m., is a remodeling romance drama about a man and woman who have been friends since childhood and face the truth of their first love hidden in Pandora's box.
Lee Jae-wook plays Baek Do-ha, an architect with outstanding skill and director of Pluto Atelier, and Choi Sung-eun gives a passionate performance as Song Ha-gyeong, an architectural civil servant who has wanted to leave the neighborhood Patan-myeon where she has lived since childhood. Do-ha, who has been childhood friends with Ha-gyeong for 17 years, fell out with her over an incident two years ago but for some reason returns to Patan-myeon.
Interest is focused on the chemistry of the Do-ha and Ha-gyeong couple, and on the 17th the first two-shot of Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun showing their warm visuals was released. Their perfectly matched synergy visible even in stills already makes viewers curious about the episodes they will present.
The released stills capture various moments of Baek Do-ha and Song Ha-gyeong. From Do-ha and Ha-gyeong sitting at opposite ends of a sofa as if to show the awkward relationship of two people reunited after two years, to moments when they stare at each other seriously with smiles wiped away, a strange tension flows between them. The two, who seem somewhat distant to be childhood friends, pique curiosity about what story ties them together.
Another still captured Do-ha's tender gaze toward Ha-gyeong and moments that create a pink-hued atmosphere between the two. Also revealed were past scenes of Do-ha and Ha-gyeong facing each other closely with flushed faces. The story is expected to follow a delicate emotional line from the bickering chemistry of two people who grew apart from past misunderstandings to a romance full of butterflies.
In particular, Do-ha, an architect, and Ha-gyeong, an architectural civil servant, who work in the same field of architecture, are expected to feature episodes that use a variety of interiors as well as the romance. This raises further anticipation for the heart-fluttering remodeling romance of Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun, who perfectly embody their characters.
Last Summer is a collaboration between writer Jeon Yu-ri, who showed solid writing in Kiss Six Sense and Radio Romance, and director Min Yeon-hong, who demonstrated delicate directing in Royal Loader, the Missing: They Were There series, and Insider.
