Park Jin-Young, the head of JYP Entertainment and a singer, has drawn attention after it was revealed that he gave his group Stray Kids a gift of 160 don of pure gold.
Stray Kids posted multiple photos on their official social media on the 15th with the caption "Thank you, PD-nim ahhhhh".
The released photos drew attention as they showed members posing while holding the pure gold frame that Park Jin-Young had gifted to all members of Stray Kids.
This was a gift from Park Jin-Young to celebrate Stray Kids reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 with their recently released fourth studio album "KARMA," marking their seventh overall No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
Since the Billboard 200 began in March 1956, Stray Kids became the first artist worldwide to debut at No. 1 on that chart and have seven consecutive albums enter at No. 1.
The pure gold frame Park Jin-Young gifted is 75 grams of pure gold, about 20 don. Combined, the eight frames the members received total 160 don of pure gold. As of the 17th, the price of 160 don of pure gold is about 102.8 million won. Many have expressed surprise at Park Jin-Young's generous gift.
Meanwhile, Park Jin-Young was recently appointed co-chairman of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee. The Popular Culture Exchange Committee was newly established to create a public-private cooperation system needed to spread popular culture such as music, drama, film and games amid strong global interest in Korean culture.
On the 9th, Park Jin-Young posted on his personal social media channel, "My dream is the same. That K-pop is loved around the world. I will work hard so that junior artists can have many better opportunities. I will do my best so that K-pop can take one more leap forward and, beyond promoting our culture, become a place where people around the world understand and interact with one another," expressing his thoughts.
