Singer K.Will directly addressed the "memorial photo" controversy that occurred during a live broadcast of 'War of the Mannequins V2' six years ago.
On the 16th, a video titled "By the way, which side is the brake on?" was uploaded to the "Manrijangseonggyu" channel.
That day, Jang Sung-kyu drove K.Will to a schedule location and helped WJSN's Dayoung with her driving practice. During that time, Jang Sung-kyu asked, "Will hyung, have you ever had an accident while driving?" and K.Will mentioned, "Many. the schedule vehicle had many accidents," and added, "You know one too," referring to an accident six years ago.
On Sept. 2019 at about 7:20 p.m., the van carrying K.Will collided with the central divider near the Geumho junction on the southbound Gyeongbu Expressway. At the time, stylist A was injured and taken to a hospital, and K.Will and manager B were not seriously injured but were transported to a nearby hospital for precise examinations for an accurate diagnosis.
Jang Sung-kyu then asked, "Were you badly hurt?" and K.Will cautiously began, "That was actually my biggest accident," adding, "It might be appropriate to talk about that here."
He said, "At that time, my current manager was from a magic department. Because of that, he was cast for the manager special on 'War of the Mannequins V2,' which you and Hyungdon hyung were hosting. I was so happy when they called. They said, 'Go,' but I had a local event then. So that day another manager friend drove my car and we were heading down together, and it was raining really hard. I thought it was really dangerous because it was pouring, and then I felt the car spin on the highway with a bang," describing the accident.
He continued, "There was a news report, and 'War of the Mannequins' was live at that time. Back then, if a manager lost a contest with the MCs, they would smear the celebrity's face in the photo, so Hyungdon hyung took it and made the smear by drawing two lines. Viewers watching the broadcast being live said, 'Wow, but K.Will had an accident now,'" explaining how an unexpected coincidence sparked the controversy.
Then Jang Sung-kyu said, "They made a memorial photo when there was a car accident," and K.Will withheld, "As that happened, what followed was..." K.Will said, "We talked on the phone a lot then," and Jang Sung-kyu publicly expressed his apology, saying, "I've felt sorry about it repeatedly."
Meanwhile, the production team of 'War of the Mannequins V2' at the time said, "We will delete the broadcast video and will not include it in the broadcast," and Jeong Hyung Don also conveyed through his agency, "The incident that occurred during the 'War of the Mannequins V2' internet live broadcast was my fault. I sincerely reflect on having crossed the line out of simple comedic ambition, and I contacted K.Will directly to express my apology," adding, "Because it was a live broadcast and I had no knowledge of K.Will's car accident, I feel even more sorry. After the internet live broadcast, I realized there were problems with my words and actions and politely discussed with the producers not to appear in the main broadcast. I will try to be more cautious and responsible going forward. I sincerely apologize once again."
