Park Myung-soo delivered a sharp rebuke to the letter writer's concern.
On the 17th broadcast of KBS CoolFM's Park Myung-soo's Radio Show, the "Myungsoo Choice" segment, which gives immediate responses to listeners' concerns, was aired.
That day, Park Myung-soo answered a listener who asked, "My older sister is quitting a perfectly fine job to go to Australia for language training. Should I support her?" by saying, "If this is merely about language training, then she doesn't have to go. It's perfectly fine in Korea."
He continued, "There's YouTube, online lectures, and academies. If it's only about language training, you probably don't need to go. Why quit a perfectly fine job? Keep working. If I don't do it, someone else will. You must keep that position. So it's better to prepare for English study while working."
He added, "Even if you go to Australia and come back, you'll forget English if you don't use it. If you're going to Australia intending not to return for a while and to settle there, then go. But if you're going just for language training, I want to say it's perfectly possible in Korea. It's hard to get a job. Just keep working."
He also responded to a concern that asked, "The kindergarten child upstairs keeps calling me 'ajumma' (auntie). I'm unmarried and it's frustrating to death. Should I tell them not to?" by sharply saying, "Be grateful they're not calling you 'grandmother.' It sounds a bit harsh, but spritz yourself up a bit."
Park Myung-soo said bluntly, "It's because 'ajumma' looks like an 'ajumma.' You can't fool children's eyes. Manage yourself. These days you can't get by without maintenance. You need to look younger than your age. That's how you succeed. There's a difference between someone who has worked out for a month and someone who hasn't," adding, "If you manage yourself, you won't be called 'ajumma.' It's not the child's fault."
