Actor Jung Bo-seok, who appeared on Radio Star, reveals the days when he starred in the nation's drama and hidden behind-the-scenes stories. He recalls the behind-the-scenes stories of dramas that made headlines when he filmed kiss scenes with top actresses of the time, Chae Shi-ra and Kim Hye-soo, and raises expectations by saying he will share stories of reuniting with the family from the sitcom "High Kick Through the Roof," including Oh Hyun-kyung, Jin Ji-hee, Seo Shin-ae, Choi Daniel and Julien Kang.
MBC's Radio Star, airing Wednesday night on the 17th (produced by Kang Young-sun / directed by Hwang Yoon-sang and Byun Da-hee), is arranged as a special titled "Guilty human compilation.ZIP" featuring Jung Bo-seok, Lee Seok-hoon, Ong Seong-wu and WOODZ.
Jung Bo-seok recalls the time when he solidified his status as a "national actor" by surpassing a peak rating of 57% with the drama "See and Again" (1998–1999). The work was a hit that rewrote the history of daily dramas, and when the MCs heard the works he had appeared in, they exclaimed, "His filmography is really remarkable."
Jung Bo-seok also reveals kiss scenes that caused a sensation when he was the prince of the living-room theater. He recounts the behind-the-scenes story of filming a kiss scene with Chae Shi-ra in the MBC drama "Son's Woman" and mentions the underwater kiss scene he shot with Kim Hye-soo in the MBC drama "A Woman's Man," saying, "It caused an enormous sensation at the time."
He also surprised the studio by confessing that, in days when safety measures were not perfect, he performed a scene where he was thrown into the Han River and "thought his heart had stopped." He also recounted an anecdote in which junior actor Yum Jung-ah followed him around before their shoot pleading, "Please let me get slapped," which sent the studio into laughter.
He also reveals that, prompted by a recent CF shoot, he reunited after 15 years with the "High Kick Through the Roof" family members such as Oh Hyun-kyung, Jin Ji-hee, Seo Shin-ae, Julien Kang and Choi Daniel. He said they created a group chat and kept in touch afterward, a story that piqued everyone's curiosity.
He summons memorable scenes that are still talked about, being called the "eternal clumsy dad," which draws laughter, and candidly says, "I'm happy to feel my popularity again recently," as various videos circulated.
He also reveals his businessman instincts that he displayed while acting. He was busy with a bowling alley business he acquired during the IMF era and declined appearing in the drama "See and Again," but the drama production side said, "Then we'll film the drama at the bowling alley," and he accepted the casting offer. Jung Bo-seok said, "Thanks to writer Im Sung-han's work, the bowling alley was used as a drama setting," and when he mentioned that the bowling alley thrived, he earned the nickname "the original PPL star."
He surprised everyone by revealing an anecdote that he even signed a modeling contract at a bakery run by his son and saying, "I am preparing another business (drawing on my experience)."
Jung Bo-seok's candid stories, which will show his multifaceted sides as an actor spanning generations, a father and a businessman, can be seen on Radio Star, airing Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m. on the 17th.
Meanwhile, Radio Star is widely loved as a unique talk show that disarms guests and draws out true stories with the MCs' sharp-witted banter that no one can predict.
