'Ulsan son-in-law' Shim Hyun-seop debuts as Ulsan Broadcasting MC at 55…father-in-law supports him with a bouquet on his first day of work
Comedian Shim Hyun-seop announced a new start in Ulsan.
On the 15th episode of TV Chosun's entertainment show "Lover of Joseon," Shim Hyun-seop shared the good news.
Shim, 55 this year, was recently selected as the MC for a new program on Ulsan Broadcasting. He will take the position as the first solo MC following Nam Hee-seok and Lee Yong-sik. It held even more special meaning for him, who settled in Ulsan after marriage.
Shim said, "I finally have a job. I'm happy to be able to work in Ulsan," expressing his excitement. Recalling the time he remained unemployed whenever his wife went to work, he revealed his sincere feelings, saying, "I was at a loss about whether to settle down, but fortune rolled in. It's an opportunity won after hardships."
In particular, his father- and mother-in-law accompanied him on this first day of work. His father-in-law personally prepared a bouquet and visited the site to congratulate him, and a smile bloomed on his previously stoic face. The long-awaited first recording began amid the family's support.
But the broadcast was not all smooth. An unexpected situation occurred when a production mistake caused the wrong image to be aired, temporarily halting the recording. After the production team's apology, retakes continued, and Shim used his trademark wit to turn the set back into a sea of laughter and successfully completed the first recording.
However, after the recording it was revealed that he had gathered friends for a meeting without his wife's permission, showing he caused a "major incident" just five months into the marriage. Attention is focused on Shim Hyun-seop's challenge as he establishes himself as a local broadcaster MC as the "Ulsan son-in-law."
