Singer Seong Si-kyung's agency, SK Jaewon, apologized for operating without registering as a popular culture and arts planning business. SK Jaewon is known as Seong Si-kyung's one-person agency.
On the 16th, SK Jaewon said, "We established the corporation in February 2011, and in January 2014, the Act on the Development of the Public Performance Industry was enacted to newly require registration as a popular culture and arts planning business," adding, "We failed to proceed with the registration process because we were not aware of the relevant regulation," and, "We deeply apologize for our lack of awareness and preparation regarding the relevant laws and regulations." It continued, "We are currently proceeding with the registration process immediately and will do our best to complete it as soon as possible so we can fully comply with the legal requirements."
The agency added, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern with this matter," and, "Going forward, we will strictly comply with the relevant laws and operate with greater responsibility."
Under the current Act on the Development of the Public Performance Industry, celebrities who operate as corporations or as sole proprietors with more than one person must register as a popular culture and arts planning business to conduct activities. Violations can result in imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million won.
