Lee Dong-yeol, formerly of the group UP10TION, takes a new step as an actor by being cast in the drama "Lies, where are the vampires?"
The drama "Lies, where are the vampires?" (writer ARRNN, director Park Ji-soo, produced by Dream Engine Studio) is a midform eight-episode drama inspired by the BL webtoon of the same title, and is a thrilling, exhilarating youth cohabitation romance about Dong-ha, a pure young man who moved to Seoul to enter university, sharing love and friendship with his vampire roommates living in a share house.
Lee Dong-yeol plays Jung Gyu-min, a vampire who is sensitive and prickly but has an eccentric charm. Despite this being his first acting challenge, his distinctive presence and expressive ability derived from stage experience are expected to blend naturally with the character and bring vitality to the work.
A PA Entertainment official said, "Lee Dong-yeol showed such delicate emotional expression and character interpretation that it is hard to believe this is his first acting role," and added, "Through Jung Gyu-min, a vampire who is prickly but lovable, he will offer viewers fresh entertainment."
Lee Dong-yeol debuted in 2015 with the group UP10TION and continued diverse activities starting with the mini album "Top Secret." After his exclusive contract ended in March 2023, he formed a new relationship with PA Entertainment, and on the 10th he celebrated his 10th debut anniversary. He is also preparing to release a new song in October, drawing fans' expectations as he pursues both music and acting.
His facial acting and delicate emotional expression shown on stage since his idol days are cited as Lee Dong-yeol's strengths. Attention is focused on what different charm he will display through his first drama challenge.
Meanwhile, the drama "Lies, where are the vampires?" will premiere on Sept. 19. In Korea it will be available on TVING, wavve, Heavenly, KT GenieTV, SK Btv, Skylife, and Homechoice, and in the Americas on iQIYI and in Southeast Asia on GagaOOLala simultaneously. Japan will begin service in mid-October. The series will be released two episodes every Friday over four weeks.
