SEVENTEEN Hoshi enlists today (16th).
SEVENTEEN Hoshi entered the New Recruit training center on the morning of the 16th, received basic military training, and will continue to serve as an active-duty soldier in the army. With this, Hoshi becomes the fourth member to undertake defense duty among the members, following Jeonghan, Wonwoo and Woozi, who enlisted earlier.
On the night of the 15th, just before enlistment, Hoshi held a live broadcast on the official fan community Weverse and gave fans his final farewell. He said, "As you all know, I will be enlisting tomorrow. I will go and come back bravely. Today Jihoon (Woozi) enlisted at Nonsan training center; he entered the training center well, and Jihoon is very healthy so he will do well, and we will do well too. Please don't worry too much," reassuring fans.
He continued, "Shaving my head closely makes it feel more real. Only now does it feel like I'm more resolved. So don't worry, I will really do well and come back. Please don't worry too much. I tried my best so Carats wouldn't be bored, but I don't know how it'll turn out. I worked hard preparing, so I hope you enjoy the content that comes out during my military hiatus so you won't be bored," and added, "I actually don't know how things will be released. I filmed frantically. Once I'm in the unit and get my assignment, I'll live there and, if possible, communicate with the company to confirm things while serving."
In particular, Hoshi said, "I've finished filming and I'm spending time with my family now. TMI: active-duty training is usually five weeks, right? But Jihoon and I will do seven weeks because it overlaps with the Chuseok holiday. We'll complete seven weeks of training well and come back. Stay healthy," revealing his shaved head after removing his beanie and giving fans a "salute."
Hoshi said, "Then I'll go and come back well tomorrow. Actually, one of the songs I worked on hard will be released at 6 p.m. tomorrow. It's a song called 'TAKE A SHOT' and a teaser photo might be posted tonight. We filmed the video, but the staff and I think we can make a better video, so the audio will be released first tomorrow and the video will be released later after more editing time," adding, "I had fun working with the younger members. By the way, one thing to note is that the song is all rap. It's a different style from what I've done before. Please listen tomorrow; to briefly describe the song, it's a track that expresses me," raising expectations for the new song to be released on his enlistment day.
Meanwhile, Hoshi's close friend Lee Soo-hyuk posted a photo with Hoshi on his personal account on the 15th and encouraged him, saying, "I know you will do well and bravely. Just don't get hurt and stay healthy. Hoshi prepared a lot for the fans to enjoy while they wait, so look forward to it. We couldn't meet for a while, so I'm relieved to have seen your face and sent you off. Our Hoyang, come back safely." Actor Lee Dong-hwi also posted a selfie with Hoshi and Ji Seok-jin saying, "Come back well," and Hoshi shared their posts and replied, "Thank you, hyung," adding warmth.
Earlier, in a video released on the 'Yoo Yeon-seok's weekend Yeonseok play' channel on the 13th, when asked whether he was looking forward to the military, Hoshi said, "I have expectations but also mixed feelings; various emotions are crossing over. When else would I experience that kind of life again? Since joining the company in middle school and being part of this organization up to my current age, I wanted to try another social organization, so I'm somewhat excited," expressing a positive mindset.
Later, on the 14th at the SEVENTEEN concert 'SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_]' held at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium in Yeonhui-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon, Jeonghan, Woozi and Wonwoo appeared in the audience together and enjoyed the event. Hoshi, who received a warm send-off from fans, will complete 1.5 years of military service and be discharged on Mar. 15, 2027.
