Broadcaster Seo Jang-hoon welcomed a famous CEO appearing on "The Millionaire Next Door."
On the morning of the 16th, a production presentation for EBS "Seo Jang-hoon's The Millionaire Next Door" was held at the Seoul Club Hall of the Korea Press Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul. At the event, PD Kim Min-ji appeared with Seo Jang-hoon and Jang Ye-won to talk about the program.
"Seo Jang-hoon's The Millionaire Next Door" confirmed regular programming after starting season 1 in the first half of this year, and with the fundamental question "Who is the real wealthy person of this era?" it drew attention. The program reexamines the meaning of "true wealth" by capturing the radiant values and philosophies hidden behind millionaires' glamorous assets, and their practices of responsibility and sharing.
PD Kim Min-ji said about the difference between the millionaires who appeared in season 1 and those recruited after regular programming was confirmed, "Season 1 had a strong pilot character. Through that process, we received feedback saying they wanted this kind of rich person or that kind of rich person, and at the end the direction and aspirations became sharper," and added, "We're recruiting for regular programming, and discoveries are being made like an inexhaustible spring. Some people recommended candidates from local communities after viewing the program. It's a very grateful response."
She continued, "The millionaires on our program are far from chaebol chairmen and CEOs. The millionaires we focus on are hidden millionaires living beside us whom we didn't know about. There were admirable elders and wealthy people who achieved various successes. Internally, we think there is no difficulty in continuing [the show]."
Kim PD then explained, "The program's big question is 'who is truly wealthy,' and true value comes from sharing. A common remark is, 'My success is not just mine; it came with the help of many people, and I want to give that back to society.' We're trying to show not the image of a wealthy person who simply eats well and lives well alone, but the image of a wealthy person who contributes value to the local community, and we think viewers will appreciate that."
Hearing this, Seo Jang-hoon said, "I want to add something. We always welcome well-known conglomerate owners and famous CEOs. If you are hesitant about appearing but it's okay with you, we would always like you to appear. We don't scrutinize specific asset amounts or anything like that. Please don't worry and contact us, we'd appreciate it," he said.
Jang Ye-won also said, "There are always parts that potential participants worry about. They say, 'I'm not a millionaire,' but the concept we talk about is used because the gain from hearing life stories is so great. If you want to try going on the show or want to talk, please feel free to contact EBS."
Seo Jang-hoon added with a laugh, "Viewers are very curious about the lives of very famous chairmen. If they watch the program and feel it's appropriate, please feel free to contact us."
Meanwhile, EBS "Seo Jang-hoon's The Millionaire Next Door" will air its first episode at 9:55 p.m. on the 17th and will be broadcast every Wednesday at the same time slot.
