Actor Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun star in "Last Summer," which released its first teaser video, announcing the start of a childhood friend romance.
KBS 2TV's new Saturday-Sunday miniseries "Last Summer," directed by Min Yeon-hong and written by Jeon Yu-ri, set to premiere Nov. 1 at 9:20 p.m., is a remodeling romance drama in which a man and a woman who have been friends since childhood face the truth of their first love hidden inside Pandora's box.
"Last Summer" is a work born of the collaboration between director Min Yeon-hong, who showed stylish direction in "Royal Loader," the "Missing: They Were There" series and "Insider," and writer Jeon Yu-ri, known for her delicate writing in "Kiss Sixth Sense" and "Radio Romance." It has drawn attention for the combination of actors with diverse charms, including Lee Jae-wook, Choi Sung-eun and Kim Gun-woo.
The first teaser video released today (16th) begins with Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook), who starts his day energetically, and Song Ha-gyeong (played by Choi Sung-eun), a public official in charge of architecture for Pattan-myeon. The scenery of Pattan-myeon, capturing the green summer atmosphere and a relaxed mood, grabs viewers' attention.
Moments of Do-ha and Ha-gyeong living their lives separated by a single wall in the peanut dwellings intersect, creating interest. Ha-gyeong tries to watch Do-ha through a hole in the wall, but he smiles as if he expected it, saying "Nothing has changed, has it?" While their sweet-and-scary chemistry draws the eye, Ha-gyeong's question, "Did you hire a lawyer?" and Do-ha's retort, "Someone sent a certified letter after two years," pique curiosity about what story ties the two together.
Moreover, starting from the moment Do-ha approaches Ha-gyeong as if to kiss her, moments that make viewers' hearts flutter are captured even amid their bickering. Do-ha's heart-fluttering narration, "When I see you, I think of the me who liked you back then," is followed by scenes of their school days that evoke a soft, wholly different excitement from the previous situation. Curiosity soars over how these once fresh young people became archenemies.
Despite the short video, Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun deliver a powerful impact by perfectly portraying a range of cold and warm emotions. The first teaser video, which captures summer as it is, raises anticipation for the premiere to a peak.
