Actor Kim I-kyung has been cast in the TVING original Dear X.
Actor Kim I-kyung has confirmed her appearance in the TVING original Dear X (directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun, written by Choi Ja-won and Ban Ji-woon, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Monster Union and Siwoo Company, provided by TVING, based on the Naver Webtoon Dear X [writer Ban Ji-woon]), promising a broader range of acting transformations.
Kim I-kyung will play the role of "Shim Seong-hee," who is expected to raise the drama's tension. "Shim Seong-hee" is a rival who competed for the top student spot in high school against the protagonist Baek A-jin (played by Kim Yoo-jung).
She is a character who fans the flames of conflict by showing inferiority, jealousy and obsession toward Baek A-jin, and beyond a simple villain she has a three-dimensional emotional line; Kim I-kyung is expected to meet the expectations of the webtoon's fans with delicate expressiveness.
Since debuting in 2018 through the drama Twelve Nights, Kim I-kyung has proven a wide range of character adaptability in various works such as Sweet Home, The Gentleman and the Lady, Please Take Care of This Life, and Lovingly Today.
In particular, she took her first leading role in the film Sister Yoo-jung, receiving praise for her sincere acting and establishing herself as a next-generation actor. In this work she is expected to show another side by densely portraying "Shim Seong-hee"'s complex inner world based on a bright and solid energy.
Meanwhile, Dear X is a destructive-melo suspense based on a popular Naver webtoon, drawing a powerful narrative that captures both beauty and brutality.
Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon and Lee Yeol-eum have confirmed their appearances, with directors Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun and writers Choi Ja-won and Ban Ji-woon in charge of the screenplay.
It has been officially invited to the "On Screen" section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival to be held in September, where some episodes will be shown worldwide for the first time, and it is scheduled to be officially released on TVING on Nov. 6 (Thu).
