Singer Kim Jong-kook, 48, recently held a wedding with his non-celebrity wife and shared some behind-the-scenes stories about whether certain acquaintances were invited.
Kim Jong-kook held a private wedding on the 5th at an undisclosed location in Seoul, inviting only about 100 family members and close acquaintances. Close colleague Yoo Jae-suk served as emcee. Until the day before the wedding, Kim did not even inform guests of the exact venue, drawing attention for a thoroughly "secure wedding."
On the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy that aired on the 14th, Kim Hee-chul expressed disappointment, saying, "Why didn't you invite the 'My Little Old Boy' team? I feel too much distance from you."
Kim Jong-kook said, "If we had held a large wedding, of course I would have invited you, but it was very small. Including the bride's side, we invited only 50 people from each family," and added, "We invited only those we meet more than once a week or are in contact with almost daily."
He said, "I naturally invited the 'Running Man' members because we see each other every week. I also invited the gym director hyung because I see him every day," and added, "For Shin Dong-yup hyung, my mother said we must invite him, and for Seo Jang-hoon hyung, we've known each other for so long and are in frequent contact, so I invited him separately."
At this, Kim Hee-chul hinted at his disappointment, saying, "So was I the only one left out?" but eventually laughed it off, saying, "It's fine as long as Tak Jae-hoon hyung didn't go either."
At Kim Jong-kook's wedding, Running Man members Yoo Jae-suk, Ji Seok-jin, Haha, and Song Ji-hyo attended, as did members of the close friends' group "Dragon Club," including Jang Hyuk, Cha Tae-hyun, and Hong Kyung-min. In contrast, among the My Little Old Boy panel, only Shin Dong-yup and Seo Jang-hoon were present.
Choosing a "quiet wedding," Kim Jong-kook said on air, "My wife wanted it, and I wanted it too. I even thought about talking about it after the wedding. I decided it was right to have only those who are truly close."
