My Little Old Boy cast member Cha Tae-hyun spoke about close friend Kim Jong-kook's wedding gift money.
On the April 14 broadcast of the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy (hereafter "My Little Old Boy"), Cha Tae-hyun, Kim Jun-ho and Kim Jong-min were shown finding common ground as married men.
That day the "married men" Cha Tae-hyun, Kim Jun-ho and Kim Jong-min shared why they gave financial control to their wives and empathized with one another. Then Cha Tae-hyun asked, "When you use a card, does a message go to your wife, or does it go to you?"
When Kim Jun-ho and Kim Jong-min said, "It comes to me," Cha Tae-hyun replied, "For me it mostly seems to go to my wife. Then she can use it however she wants. Do you get audited later?" In response Kim Jong-min said, "My wife looks at all the statements. She looks them over at the end of every month," and confessed that she usually raises issues about wedding gift money.
Cha Tae-hyun then asked, "How much is wedding gift money? What's the minimum?" Kim Jong-min was reticent, saying, "It differs a bit for each person." At that moment Kim Jun-ho made everyone burst out laughing by saying, "The lowest is 30,000 won, like you."
Kim Jong-min asked, "Which celebrity gave the most?" Kim Jun-ho checked his wedding gift list and drew attention by saying, "Surprisingly it's Tak Jae-hoon hyung. Jae-hoon hyung gave a large amount to both sides."
Meanwhile Cha Tae-hyun mentioned recently married Kim Jong-kook. He said, "In the morning when I was leaving to film, in our group chat he asked, 'Is anyone awake?' I was awake in the morning so I got a video call and he talked about dates and asked, 'Are you available?' I sensed something there and got chills. I asked, 'Are you getting married?'" and described how he learned of Kim Jong-kook's marriage.
Although the close friend Cha Tae-hyun said he didn't know about Kim Jong-kook's relationship, he added, "But it didn't make me upset, and I was happier that he was getting married."
He continued, "On My Little Old Boy I joked half in jest and half serious a lot. Whenever the images that appear here came out, I'd call. I'd tell him he really shouldn't do that. I was so drunk I even called Jong-kook's mother. I said, 'If he appears like this he can't get married. If this continues he won't get married,' and I'd stop using a roll of toilet paper, stop using water," recalling times he worried for his friend.
He added, "I really disliked it. But whether I talked about it or not isn't the important thing, and I didn't even ask who he was marrying."
Earlier Kim Jong-min had won a household gift from Kim Jong-kook through a game. After receiving a refrigerator from Kim Jong-kook as a household gift, Kim Jong-min lamented, "What should I do? When you buy a refrigerator you probably knew and prepared. You knew about it, right?"
When Cha Tae-hyun said, "You have to give back everything you received," Kim Jong-min asked, "How much will Jong-kook hyung give as wedding gift money?" Cha Tae-hyun checked the 2006 wedding gift list and joked, "Jong-kook is tied for fourth place. Fourth place 20 years ago. I'll sit there that day and count them all. I'll see how much fourth place gave and match that. I'm in trouble. I don't know how much they'll give."
Kim Jun-ho also checked Kim Jong-kook's wedding gift amount and was surprised, saying, "He did well." Kim Jong-min said, "Jong-kook hyung did it knowing he'd get it back," and Cha Tae-hyun joked, "Jong-kook will have flower decorations at the wedding. There's no way he'd make his own wedding decorations out of toilet paper, right?" which drew laughter.
