The popular webtoon "Personal Taxi" will be co-produced with Japan's Fuji TV as a mid-form seasonal drama.
On the 15th, production companies Big In Square (CEO Lee Dae-yeon) and Studio Flow (CEO Park Woo-ram) officially announced that the webtoon-based "Personal Taxi" has confirmed the casting of actors Cha Tae-hyun, Lee Jae-in, Lim Se-mi, Hyun Bong-sik, Lee Yeon-hee, Kim Do-hyun, Mimi, Joo Jong-hyuk, Ye Ji-won, Ahn Ji-ho, Im Ha-ryong, Ye Su-jeong (names in episode order), and will be produced as an 8-episode mid-form season drama.
"Personal Taxi" [directed by Jeon Chang-geun / written by Kim Jun-mo, Min Dong-hyun / produced by Big In Square, Studio Flow / original by Lee Mo-se] is a human healing music drama set around a mysterious taxi that only picks up reserved passengers, where ordinary but special stories of passengers that anyone can relate to and wants to comfort flow together with requested songs.
Director Jeon Chang-geun, who has showcased dense direction across various genres with a meticulous view of people in works such as "The God of the Workplace", "Ssanggap Pocha", "The Moveable Feast", and "Why Are We Family", will take the megaphone to raise confidence. Music directors Park Seong-il and Han Saem, who have expressed characters' emotions, narratives and the era's sensibilities beyond simple background music in works such as When Life Gives You Tangerines, "Itaewon Class", "My Mister", "Misaeng", and "Signal", will present the essence of a music drama that is pleasing to the ear. In addition, top actors spanning generations with both acting skill and star quality, along with many rising actors, have been cast, drawing attention.
First, multi-entertainer and beloved actor Cha Tae-hyun was the first name to be added to the cast lineup. Captivating global viewers with "Moving" and imprinting his name on the public as "trusted" through his unique cheerfulness and warm humanity on various variety shows, he returns to his main profession two years after "Moving" to show a new side on the small screen. With the warm yet delicate emotional acting that only Cha Tae-hyun can deliver, he will lead the entire series and take the wheel of a taxi that is the most personal yet able to move everyone.
Also boarding the taxi are Lee Jae-in, who proved herself as a next-generation star and actor moving between film and drama through "Our Unwritten Seoul" and "High Five", and Lim Se-mi, who has steadily built her filmography at her own pace in works such as "Try: We Become Miracles", My Dearest Nemesis, and "Gale" and has shown deep acting in each project.
From "Nine Puzzles" to the variety show "Office Workers," Hyun Bong-sik, who is at the center of the hottest topics across dramas, films and variety shows these days, and Lee Yeon-hee, who returns to the small screen after showcasing solid acting on the theater stage earlier this year, have also been added to the cast lineup, raising expectations for their performances.
Kim Do-hyun, who has been loved by the public for showing diverse character variations in works such as "The Youngest Son of a Chaebol Family", "Queen of Tears", and "Family x Melo", also opens the taxi door. Also, top idol and versatile entertainer Mimi will take on her first dramatic role, sparking curiosity about what she will show as an actor.
Joo Jong-hyuk, who entered the ranks of leading actors with a solid filmography and polar character performances in works such as "Polaris", "Confidence Man KR", and "Extraordinary Attorney Woo", and the irreplaceable actor Ye Ji-won, who has a uniquely dominant character and aura in Chungmuro, have been added to the cast lineup. Also joining is rising actor Ahn Ji-ho, who has attracted attention with solid acting not typical of a newcomer through "The Defects."
Im Ha-ryong, an actor who has built a unique realm through various works and needs no further modifier, and Ye Su-jeong, who delivers the most active and remarkable performances across film, drama and theater with delicate and deep acting, have been cast to lend weight to the work.
"Personal Taxi" has signed a co-production agreement with Japanese broadcaster Fuji TV and plans to expand through remakes or exports in global markets including Asia, North America and Europe, starting with Korea. It was also selected for the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) "2025 OTT-specialized content production support (IP secured)" project, securing a stable production environment, and Studio Flow, which produced Netflix's "Alone in the Forest" and "Into Your Time", participated in co-production to enhance the work's completeness.
Last year, production company Big In Square produced the cinema anthology project "The Killers," in which six directors each interpreted a Hemingway short story, and was invited to the Busan International Film Festival, New York Asian Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, and Sitges Film Festival, gaining recognition for its planning and artistry.
Filming is scheduled to begin in September.
