My Little Old Boy cast member Cha Tae-hyun said he was genuinely worried about Kim Jong-kook.
On the 14th episode of the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy (hereafter "My Little Old Boy"), Cha Tae-hyun was shown mentioning Kim Jong-kook's marriage.
Kim Jong-kook revealed the surprise wedding news two weeks before the wedding, including on his fan cafe and even on the day of the Running Man recording, drawing attention. Afterwards, Kim Jong-kook held a wedding ceremony with a non-celebrity bride at a location in Seoul on the 5th.
That day Cha Tae-hyun mentioned Kim Jong-kook's wedding news. He recalled that even he, as a close friend, learned about it by phone, saying, "Jong-kook texted in our group chat in the morning when I was heading to a shoot asking, 'Is anyone awake?' Since I was awake he video-called me and talked about the date, asking, 'Are you free then?' I sensed something and got goosebumps. I asked, 'Are you getting married?'")
Cha Tae-hyun said he didn't know about Kim Jong-kook's romance but wasn't upset, adding, "But I wasn't upset about that; I was just happier that he was getting married," describing his feelings at the time.
Above all, Cha Tae-hyun admitted he didn't want to appear on My Little Old Boy because he was worried as a friend. He said, "On My Little Old Boy and elsewhere I often joked half in jest, half seriously. Whenever those scenes aired I would call and say, 'You really can't do this,'" he said.
He added, "I was so drunk I even called Jong-kook's mother. I told her, 'He can't appear like this. He really won't be able to get married,' and I wouldn't use a single sheet of toilet paper or any water. I really hated it," he said.
Cha Tae-hyun said, "Whether he talked about the relationship or not isn't the important thing. I didn't even ask who he was marrying," expressing as a friend that he was purely happy about the marriage.
