Bon Appetit, Your Majesty Im Yoon-ah raised an objection to Moon Seung-yu's dish.
On the 14th, the tvN weekend drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (directed by Jang Tae-yoo, written by fGRD, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Film Gryda, Jung Universe) depicted Yeon Ji-young (Im Yoon-ah) competing in a cooking contest.
The first cooking contest theme was "muyuk," a method of creating meat dishes that did not exist in the world. Yeon Ji-young chose "spicy premium braised short ribs," and despite injuring her hand in an assassin attack, she continued cooking, deftly preparing the ingredients. But after both gochujang and red pepper powder were stolen, she faced a setback and said she had to change the dish, choosing beef bourguignon and approaching the cooking saying, "This is the best I can do."
Court officials in Joseon were astonished not because she used alcohol to mask the meat's odor but because she soaked the meat entirely in alcohol. They criticized Yeon Ji-young's action as "premature" and "reckless," clicking their tongues. In response, Han Min-seong (Son Jong-hak) advised to watch and see, saying, "The meat soaked in alcohol could take on a special energy."
Facing that, in the Ming dynasty Abisu (Moon Seung-yu) stood against Yeon Ji-young. While Dang Baek-ryong (Jo Jae-yoon) and Gong Mun-rye (Park In-soo) prepared the chicken, Abisu gambled on chili oil made by infusing red pepper powder into oil. The familiar scent of chili made the Joseon royal kitchen sensitive. In particular, the Ming side tried to seize the initiative by serving it with Gongbu rice wine.
Lee Heon and Woo-gon (Kim Hyung-mook), who tasted Yeon Ji-young's beef bourguignon, marveled at the tender meat and deep flavor. Still, Woo-gon belittled it as just braised short ribs, saying it was not a meat dish that did not exist in the world. Yeon Ji-young replied, "This dish does not exist in the world right now. It is a home-cooked meal that will be made in the French countryside several hundred years from now. Personally, it is also a dish that does not exist in the world for me. It is the kind of food mothers in French households always make, and when making this dish I would imagine what it would taste like if my late mother had made it for me. Therefore, in this era this is a meat dish that does not exist in the world even for me."
Abisu presented "gyejeong" using chicken and served it with Gongbu rice wine. Yeon Ji-young suspected that the Sichuan dish gongbao chicken, which should have appeared during the Qing dynasty, had appeared during the Ming dynasty. Lee Heon and Woo-gon were surprised by the spicy yet sweet dish. Abisu called the chili oil his "secret seasoning," explaining, "I've tried Joseon's gangjeong, but this is different. Gyejeong used for the first time a red oil 'là yóu' that did not exist in the world."

Facing that, in the Ming dynasty Abisu (Moon Seung-yu) stood against Yeon Ji-young, using chicken and presenting a dish that included red pepper powder obtained through a transaction with Prince Je-san (Choi Gwi-hwa) as a secret weapon.
Before the announcement of the first contest results, Yeon Ji-young pleaded to taste Abisu's gyejeong. Woo-gon refused, but Dang Baek-ryong persuaded him and they tasted each other's dishes. After tasting the gyejeong, Yeon Ji-young was certain Abisu had used a chili-based là yóu and raised an objection. Abisu said, "I didn't steal it; I gave huajiao and got it legitimately," but he was criticized for doing something a cook should not, and Dang Baek-ryong said, "Let's consider that we lost the first contest."
Abisu said he obtained the red pepper powder through Prince Je-san, and that without his permission the Saongwon steward said gochujang and red pepper powder had been brought in without authorization, so he discarded them and told Abisu to take them, thereby escaping the crisis.
