"Let's Go Go season 5" actor Jang Hyuk recalled his friendship with Park Jun-hyung.
On the broadcast of MBN real variety show "Let's Go Go season 5" on the 13th, actor Jang Hyuk appeared. His close friend Park Jun-hyung previewed Jang Hyuk, saying, "This guest is closer and better looking than god. I knew him before his armpit hair grew, so he was more awkward than anyone. His looks are still the same."
Hong Hyun-hee greeted him as soon as she saw him, saying, "Oh my! It's oppa Jang Hyuk! Please call me Eonnyeon." The name of the female counterpart to Jang Hyuk's famous character "Dae-gil" was Eonnyeon. Jang Hyuk hid his embarrassment and smiled brightly. He opened the opening in his long-time boxing gym, looking a bit more at ease.
Jang Hyuk said, "Actually, I was already here during the pre-interview and camera setup earlier." Ahn Jung-hwan asked, "How long has it been since you boxed?" Jang Hyuk boasted about his great love for boxing, saying, "I paid the membership fee for 18 years. While paying, I went to get my pro license."
Jang Hyuk decided to specialize as an action actor when he filmed his second movie, "Jjang." Seeing a stunt double get an NG while standing in for him made Jang Hyuk feel apologetic, and he began to learn full-fledged action. However, he originally couldn't use his body at night, but he overcame that.
Jang Hyuk was close with god even before their debuts. He was especially close with Park Jun-hyung. Park Jun-hyung said about his first impression of Jang Hyuk before debut, "When I came to Korea to work in the U.S., I first saw Jang Hyuk. He was so handsome and really beautiful. But he seemed somewhat sad." Jang Hyuk said, "Park Jun-hyung was a healthy and cool American, but after moving into the dorm he became a sad American."
Hong Hyun-hee asked, "Was the company big back then?" The company at the time couldn't take care of the trainees because of financial problems. Park Jun-hyung said, "When I came to Korea my body was really good at 88 to 91 kg. In a year and a half I dropped to 63 kg. People say that looks cool, but you can get like that if you just starve," saying he suffered extreme hardships.
Jang Hyuk said, "Park Jun-hyung losing weight wasn't even a topic. We were all starving, so everyone was losing weight," and added, "At the time there was a person called 'Heong' who was Park Jun-hyung's friend. The first thing he said after learning Korean was 'I'm hungry, give me rice.' It got so bad that Heong said, 'I'm eating shrimp porridge,' and when we wondered what that meant, he was breaking shrimp crackers and pouring water on them to eat."
That made their bond even stronger. After taking acting classes, Jang Hyuk taught god poses for photo shoots and also taught acting to Yoon Kye-sang.
Hong Hyun-hee was surprised, asking, "So did Jang Hyuk create Yoon Kye-sang's Jang Chen?" Jang Hyuk awkwardly laughed, saying, "Not really, but I probably helped a bit," then added, "Yoon Kye-sang is loyal. When Yoon Kye-sang was sick and I had no money, I took him to a snack bar and offered to buy him ramen. But he said he couldn't eat alone. Still, I yelled at him to eat, saying if even Yoon Kye-sang collapsed, what would happen to the rest of the members," sharing a particularly close memory that warmed hearts.
