American lawyer-turned-broadcaster Seo Dong-joo revealed what led her to become a lawyer.
On the 14th episode of KBS2's 'The owner's ears are donkey ears' (hereinafter 'Sadang-gwi'), Seo Dong-joo, a former American lawyer who is also active as a broadcaster and entrepreneur, appeared as a special MC.
That day Jun Hyun-moo asked, "Ms. Seo Dong-joo is known for having worked at one of the top five U.S. law firms; how long did you work there?" and Seo Dong-joo explained, "In terms of years, five years. Even after coming to Korea I worked remotely."
Jun Hyun-moo asked, "You worked as a lawyer in the U.S. and Korea, so what's the biggest difference?" and Seo Dong-joo said, "Anyway, people call you by your name. If it's Brian, they could just say 'Brian' or 'hey.' They call the boss by his name, too." Then Kim Hee-jun said firmly, "(In Korea) that means you'll get scolded."
When asked, "Why did you want to become a lawyer?" Seo Dong-joo candidly replied, "At first, it wasn't so much a big dream as wanting to make a living." Hearing this, Kim Sook admired, "That's cool," and Seo Dong-joo explained, "I wanted to earn money steadily."
Regarding how long it took him to pass, he said, "I failed once and passed on the second try, so it took six months," and added, "In the U.S. there are state laws and federal laws, so in terms of studying both, the scope of study can be broad. It varies by state."
Park Myeong-su asked, "Weren't you popular when you were a lawyer in the U.S.?" and Seo Dong-joo boasted, "I was especially a bit popular in college. Back then there were even talks that I was the Asian Paris Hilton."
