Singer Ailee revealed a harrowing experience in which the plane she was on made an emergency landing after encountering a typhoon.
On the 13th, a video titled "I almost lost my wife..." was uploaded to the Illine wedding diary channel.
That day, Choi Si-hoon rode in her vehicle to follow Ailee's schedule. He asked, "How many days did you go to South Africa?" and Ailee said, "2 nights, 5 days. It was originally 2 nights, 5 days but it became 2 nights, 6 days." Choi Si-hoon then opened by saying, "I really thought I lost my waife. I nearly lost my wife," drawing attention.
Ailee said, "Our plane was supposed to land in Hong Kong, but a typhoon hit Hong Kong so hard that we couldn't land. We circled in the sky about five times. Then suddenly they said we ran out of fuel. It's scary. So they said we had to divert somewhere else. We would make an emergency landing in Kaohsiung to refuel and then go. I hurriedly bought one hour of Wi-Fi and left a message for my husband," and she revealed the urgent message describing the tense situation at the time.
Ailee sent the message, "Honey, our plane—there's a typhoon hitting Hong Kong so we're circling and ran out of fuel..." and then placed a voice call. Seeing this, Choi Si-hoon responded urgently, "Honey, what's going on?", "Honey", "Honey." Ailee experienced communication issues, saying, "Can you get my KakaoTalk? I can't hear you," and a little later Choi Si-hoon asked, "Did you land?" but Ailee replied, "No, we're still in the sky."
Seeing this, Choi Si-hoon panicked, saying, "No, no," and Ailee expressed her fear: "They say we have no more fuel. While heading to Taiwan they suddenly said they're going somewhere else. I don't know, the plane keeps shaking. I'm scared." Choi Si-hoon also pleaded, "Please, please...", "I'm so worried, please," and in the midst of that Ailee said, "I sent 'Honey, it's me' and then contact was cut off for 30 minutes."
He explained why the reply was cut off: "The Wi-Fi suddenly dropped. They said they were landing." At that time, still unaware of the situation, Choi Si-hoon kept sending desperate messages, "Please be okay, please come back safely."
Ailee said, "I kept crying. I cried my eyes out," and Choi Si-hoon recalled the harrowing moment: "I was sleeping and had a very bad dream. We were supposed to arrive but we didn't keep arriving. I woke up at dawn and checked my phone but there was no contact. Then the first contact in the morning was a voice call. How shocked was I."
Ailee laughed and said, "They said they ran out of fuel, then 'Honey, it's me' and disappeared. She called her mother," and Choi Si-hoon said, "No, that was on for us too. We used location tracking and it showed them floating in the middle of the sea. The location didn't move," showing he couldn't help but imagine the worst.
Ailee said, "I had my Find My set for emergencies. Because of that she went even crazier. From the morning she contacted our family in the U.S. and called my mother saying she couldn't live without her wife, crying and causing a commotion," and Choi Si-hoon added, "I told my mom, 'If I don't have my wife, I'll die,' and my mom called my aunt and said, 'If Si-hoon is gone, I'll die.' The whole family just—my aunt called and said they made a huge scene saying they'd both die."
Ailee then laughed and said, "So he came to pick me up at the airport. My husband. He said he'd follow today's schedule. When I asked 'Why?' he said he developed separation anxiety and couldn't do it."
Meanwhile, Ailee married Choi Si-hoon, who gained recognition after appearing on Netflix's Single's Inferno last August.
