Fitness trainer Yang Chi-seung is drawing both sympathy and support from internet users by showing he will fulfill his responsibilities until the end despite facing closure.
Recently, a video titled "Thank you all this time" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Yang Chi-seung's MakTube." In the video, Yang Chi-seung revealed a scene of him disposing of the car he used to drive, saying, "The gym has little time left, so I needed money to refund members. Actually that car isn't mine either; I think it was bought with members' money. It's right to return that money. Because we must not let members suffer damage, taking responsibility until the end is the minimum duty."
With reddened eyes, he said, "I never thought a day like this would come in 25 years of running a gym. I thought I would work out with members until I grew old and died, so it's very regretful. Still, I hope you don't lose the passion you had here and continue it elsewhere," and delivered his final farewell.
In fact, ahead of the gym's closure, Yang Chi-seung has been doing his best in the refund process by sending messages to members one by one. He sent individual messages to members whose group texts were filtered as spam and personally informed them, "Refunds and personal item pickups will be conducted until 10 a.m. on Jul. 24, 2025." Some members cheered, saying, "We won't take refunds until you reopen the gym," but he did not shirk responsibility, saying, "Please get your refund first and we'll talk later."
As he looked at the empty gym being torn down and said, "Thank you all this time," internet users sent warm support, saying, "It's admirable to take responsibility until the end," "Seeing him think of members until the very last moment brings tears," and "I believe you'll get back up. Stay strong."
Even in the difficult situation of closing the gym, Yang Chi-seung moved many people by showing he would uphold his duty until the end, even disposing of his car to refund members.
