"Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" Lee Chae-min has risen as the next-generation male lead.
On the 13th, in episode 7 of the tvN weekend drama "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" (directed by Jang Tae-yu / written by fGRD), Lee Chae-min maximized his character's charm by being gentle yet cheerful, and at times intense and serious, reaffirming the value of the romantic comedy genre.
That day Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae-min), after Yeon Ji-young (played by Im Yoon-ah) left the palace to secure a special cooking tool for her duel with Myeong, accompanied Im Song-jae (played by Oh Eui-sik) and, anxious, eventually went out himself. Finding the eccentric technician Jang Chun-saeng (played by Go Chang-seok), Lee Heon briefly showed a temper at his attitude and revealed a tyrant-like side, but ultimately obtained the desired cauldron, giving a green light to the cooking duel with Myeong. However, on the way back to the palace, when Yeon Ji-young was put in danger by Prince Jesan's (played by Choi Gwi-hwa) plot, he fought fiercely against assassins, hinting at his affection for Yeon Ji-young. After many twists and turns, the two arrived late at the venue, and their ending injected both tension and interest into the drama's development.
Lee Chae-min is bringing his own charm to the character for viewers. As his feelings for Yeon Ji-young deepen, he fills the role with lovability, unable to hide affection and jealousy, and his moments of royal dignity convey charisma; in scenes where he recites unfamiliar dish names exactly as they are, he shows a human side and delivers humor, enriching the drama's enjoyment with varied colors.
Also, in the scene where he faces assassins to protect Yeon Ji-young, his grim expression and action performance that spares his body captivated viewers, and his sincere gaze and subtle emotions toward Yeon Ji-young meticulously build the romantic narrative and raise expectations.
