"Twelve" captivated living rooms nationwide as it rushed toward its finale in the much-anticipated episode 7, with O-gwi, Mir, and the seven thousand angels facing a dire crisis.
"Twelve" is an action superhero series in which 12 angels fight against forces of evil to protect the human world. Episode 7, released on the 13th (Sat), revealed everything from the poignant romance between O-gwi (Park Hyung-sik) and Mir (Lee Joo-bin), which had stoked viewers' curiosity, to the reason O-gwi sided with evil, drawing attention. As the gates of hell opened and the human world was shrouded in darkness, Sa-min (Kim Chan-hyung) gained tremendous power and the angels, having regained their unique abilities, began a massive battle, building to a climax toward the final episode.
The start of episode 7 portrayed how the human O-gwi and Mir, an angel who exists to protect humans, secretly grew their love by breaking God's rule thousands of years ago. O-gwi had a special ability to find evil spirits, but he was heartbroken that he could not spend his life with Mir, an angel who lives forever. O-gwi, who sought to live with the angels and strived to be chosen by God, was approached by Sa-min, who had been consumed by darkness, and was imbued with evil power. O-gwi chose great power to be with Mir, but the revealed past that forced him to distance himself from the angels evoked viewers' sympathy. Thousands of years later in the present, Mir, having regained all her powers and memories, reached out to O-gwi and urged him not to run and to go to Tae-san (Ma Dong-seok), but O-gwi hesitated for fear he might be sealed again, and the two were once more apart.
Meanwhile, the human world was plunged into chaos by evil forces after the gates of hell opened. Mir, who had been separated from the other angels, encountered Sa-min, who sought the soul of the dragon, and tried to fight alone but was ultimately brought down by his merciless power. The angels, who belatedly went to find Mir, met O-gwi, and the badly wounded O-gwi, asking for time to recover, revealed Mir's whereabouts. Sa-min took the unconscious Mir to the basement of the Tae-san building, where the shrine is located, and began a ritual to extract the dragon's soul, raising tension. Sa-min, having gained overwhelming power, awakened the four angels Han-woo (Na In-woo), To-seonsaeng (Bae Yu-ram), Yang-mi (Han Ye-ji), and Dal-gi (Han Jae-in), who had died in the battle thousands of years ago, and the angels who arrived late were shocked to find their comrades awakened while consumed by darkness.
At the end, Tae-san's fury toward Sa-min explodes, foreshadowing an unprecedented all-out battle and driving expectations to a peak. Viewers are left wondering whether Mir, in mortal danger, the gravely wounded O-gwi, and the angels faced with battles against comrades like family will be able to secure victory once more against the forces of evil and protect everyone in the finale, heightening the desire to watch the final episode.
Racing toward its conclusion with a whirlwind of late-stage developments and unmissable visuals, "Twelve" airs every Sat. and Sun. at 9:20 p.m. on KBS2's weekend miniseries slot, and is available worldwide on Disney+ immediately after broadcast.
