The United States' most prestigious TV award, the Emmy Awards, will be broadcast live in Korea.
On the 13th, streaming service Tving said it will provide a live stream of the 77th Emmy Awards, to be held in Los Angeles, on the morning of the 15th at 9 a.m. The live broadcast can be viewed through TV Chosun on the Tving live channel.
The Emmy Awards are organized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) and are the television industry's most prestigious awards, encompassing all genres such as drama, comedy, film, miniseries and variety shows, making it a global celebration. Through this live broadcast, domestic viewers will be able to watch in real time the triumphant moments of this year's most celebrated TV series.
This year's biggest contender at the Emmys is the Apple TV+ series Severance. With its provocative premise of a brain surgery that radically separates work life and personal life, intensively capturing modern workers' desire for work-life balance, the series set a record for most nominations by earning 27 nominations across categories including best series, directing, and lead and supporting actor and actress.
Other major nominees revealed through Tving include the spy thriller Slow Horses starring Gary Oldman; The Studio, a witty satire of the fierce power struggles in the U.S. comedy industry; Bad Sisters, a black comedy about the solidarity and conflicts of five Irish sisters; Shrinking, a human comedy that drew attention for Harrison Ford's long-awaited return to television; Disclaimer, a psychological thriller that brought together Cate Blanchett and director Alfonso Cuarón; Presumed Innocent, a meticulous courtroom drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal; Dope Thief, a crime drama featuring Brian Tyree Henry and Joey King; and The Gorge, an action romance starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy.
