British pop singer Ed Sheeran said he has already completed a posthumous album.
In an interview with Jane Ro of Apple Music, Ed Sheeran said that after the final album to be released during his lifetime, Stop, there exists another album, Eject, that will be released after his death.
According to British outlet Metro, Sheeran said in the interview about the posthumous release, "Eject is the album in my will. My wife Cherry (Cherry Seaborn) will choose the tracks. Even if I die tomorrow, it is already prepared," he explained.
Sheeran said the album will have the character of a retrospective looking back on his musical life, and that among unreleased songs his wife will select tracks to work on.
He said, "What I want is to pick the best 10 songs from those I have accumulated since I was 18 and make an album. Imagine Paul McCartney's ears after he passes, with unreleased masterpieces spanning his life released, from the early Beatles recordings of his teenage years onward."
Sheeran added that some fans might find this uncomfortable, but many fans would find it very interesting. He said he does not want others to mix the songs after he is gone, and stressed, "I will only give Cherry a few hints and there will be no other people involved."
Sheeran married his wife Cherry in 2019 and they have two daughters. He released a new album, Play, on the 12th, and said he will release Rewind in 2027, followed by his final lifetime album Stop to mark the end of his career.
