On the Dec. 12 broadcast of MBC 'Home Alone' (directors Heo Hang, Kang Ji-hee, Kim Jin-kyung, Lee Kyung-eun, Moon Ki-young), Kim Dae-ho was shown making his own sandbox at 'Daeho House No. 2' and dancer Leejung taking her first-ever 'driving test.'
According to ratings company Nielsen Korea on the 13th, the household rating for 'Home Alone' broadcast the previous day was 5.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area, ranking first among Friday variety programs. In the key 2049 rating, a primary indicator for advertisers and channel competitiveness, it recorded 2.8% (Seoul metropolitan area), placing first among all Friday programs.
The top one-minute moment was when Kim Dae-ho poured 20 boxes of sand into 'Daeho House No. 2' to open 'Daeundae (Daeho+Haeundae)' (23:57). The scene of his crazed romance realization, which no one could have predicted, recorded a peak rating of 6.2%.
Kim Dae-ho captivated viewers with a day earnest about 'romance realization.' He rescued the vine-entangled 'Damarghini (DamaO+Oborgini)' and tried a self car wash for the first time in five years. As a 'car wash novice,' Kim Dae-ho flailed from the start, and the more he washed, the dirtier it became, provoking laughter. Especially when black water streamed from the 'Damarghini' like tears, Kim Dae-ho laughed, saying, "I thought it was possessed by an evil spirit." He spent only 68,000 won on an outside car wash fee, but the car remained streaked with black marks and leaves, drawing laughs.
Next, Kim Dae-ho poured a whopping 20 boxes of sand into the courtyard of 'Daeho House No. 2' to open his dream 'Daeundae,' leaving viewers in disbelief. He said, "If you worry about cleaning, you can't do anything. If you think, 'This will be a hassle, so don't do it,' you'll never do it and you'll die. Regretting it before you die is useless. It's better to do it and die!" showing his firm will to realize his dream.
As sand kept pouring, Kim Dae-ho flashed a crazed look and members of the Rainbow House sighed, "He's really crazy," but Kim Dae-ho smiled more happily than anyone. On the sandbox he made, he worked out and enjoyed a plentiful summer table with his homemade 'chicken wing bangbang,' cold noodles and a grapefruit cocktail.
Living in a house and toggling between the happiness of realizing a dream and the reality of heavy upkeep, Kim Dae-ho proposed a 'house swap' to Jun Hyun-moo, who has fantasies about 'house living.' Jun Hyun-moo reacted, "What crime did I commit? Why am I getting a haunted house experience?" drawing laughs. Viewers are eager to see what other dreams the earnest Kim Dae-ho will show next.
Meanwhile, dancer Leejung embarked on a new challenge for her dog Dudu. Leejung first visited the office of the furniture designer who made her favorite piece, the 'Leejung sofa.' She commissioned a 'Dudu bed' and poured out ideas. For a custom Dudu bed she underwent a 'pet-sonal color' diagnosis and held meetings with the designer, showing her affection for Dudu.
Leejung also revealed that she was attempting the driving test. She said, "As Dudu's guardian, I worried, 'What if the child gets sick?' I might have to take this child to the hospital suddenly, and I can't always wait for a pet taxi. So I thought, 'I really need a license,'" explaining why she decided to get a driver's license.
Attempting her first-ever driving test, Leejung focused on practice at a simulation academy ahead of the Class 1 skills test. Carrying nervousness and anxiety to the test site, the Rainbow House members shared their own experiences and became immersed. Once seated behind the wheel, Leejung exhaled roughly and concentrated on the test. She muttered to herself, "This is nothing!" trying to calm her nerves, which made the Rainbow House members nervous as well.
She started calmly and passed difficult turning and parking courses without deductions, drawing admiration. But while heading to the next course she received deductions for consecutive derailments, then made the mistake of climbing a curb and was 'forcibly disqualified,' leaving regret. Exiting the test site disappointed, Leejung vowed to keep trying until she passed, saying, "I feel enormous gratitude to everyone who drives for me."
At the end of the broadcast, SHINee's Key visiting Yeongcheon national cemetery to meet veterans' grandfathers and grandmothers and Lee Joo-seung greeting his brother and sister-in-law who came from Vietnam were previewed, raising expectations.
