Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon may discover another "gem" to follow Byeon Wooseok and Choo Young-Woo.
On the 13th, Lifetime TV variety show Casting 1147km announced Hong Seok-cheon's grants in the fifth episode airing that night.
Casting 1147km, currently airing, is a reality program that tells the growth stories of new male actors. As the title, inspired by the 1,147 km distance between Seoul and Tokyo, suggests, six young actors who run toward their dreams across borders and cultures live together in a dormitory called the "casting house" and fiercely compete for the lead male role.
The program is also a survival audition reality planned by Sim Story, which made MBN and Channel S's "Jun Hyun-moo plan" series and the long-running variety show "Sokpuli Show Dongchimi." Riding on that, 30-year veteran actor and entertainment industry "star judge" Hong Seok-cheon makes a surprise appearance.
Earlier, Hong Seok-cheon had introduced many handsome and attractive stars he had noticed early on through the web variety show "Hong Seok-cheon's Jewelry Box." From model-turned-actor Byeon Wooseok, who rose to stardom with Lovely Runner, to another model-turned-actor Choo Young-Woo, who emerged as a leading figure through The Tale of Lady Ok and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, and SM boy group RIIZE centered on the "center award of conviction" Won Bin, these were among the stars Hong Seok-cheon had noticed early.
The participants range from complete newcomers to those nine years into their careers, each with different backgrounds, and each episode raises viewers' immersion with fresh missions, unpredictable outcomes and heated challenges. In this context, Hong Seok-cheon appears at the "casting house." Expectations are rising over whether a new "gem" will be discovered. Hong Seok-cheon will give the new actors a harsh variety show initiation and will not hold back honest and practical advice befitting an entertainment industry senior.
The special meeting between the six young actors running toward their dreams and entertainment industry star judge Hong Seok-cheon can be seen tonight (the 13th) at 11 p.m. on Lifetime TV's Casting 1147km.
