Singer Heo Gong denied as "groundless" reports that he committed a second DUI.
On the 12th, a representative of Heo Gong's agency, InYourStar, told OSEN, "On the 11th, additional reports related to Heo Gong's past DUI suddenly appeared. There were even false reports as if he had committed another DUI, but that is not true at all," issuing an official statement.
A representative for Heo Gong said, "It is true that Heo Gong committed a DUI in 2023. In the reports at the time, it was portrayed as if he had not properly handled the aftermath of the accident, but that also differs from the facts. He cooperated faithfully with the police investigation, apologized immediately, and did his best to reach a settlement. Later, in December of the following year, he met with our agency, pledged not to repeat such mistakes, and signed a contract with the intention of reflecting on it and showing a better performance."
He added, "However, the initial report from two years ago, which did not properly establish the facts, was suddenly republished by other media outlets on the 11th. Fortunately, some outlets that acknowledged the reports were false quickly deleted them, but there are media outlets that rewrote the old matter as if it had recently happened and could not be reached. That is a false report. We will do whatever it takes to correct this immediately."
In addition, Heo Gong's side said, "There was a case where a booking was canceled after seeing that false report among Heo Gong's schedules. We plan to correct the incorrect reporting and once again state the parts that are unfair. If they still refuse, there is nothing we can do, and we will of course accept it," adding, "However, only one event was canceled; his entire schedule did not vanish. Heo Gong has continued to reflect since the previous incident. Even though he was harmed by this false report, he first apologized to our agency for causing trouble. We will ensure he can grow into a singer who brings positive influence by singing on stage."
Heo Gong is known as the twin older brother of singer Heo Gak. In August 2023, he drove under the influence in the Seojeong-dong area of Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and crashed into a residential wall. In July, he made a comeback by releasing a song titled "Heo Gong."
