Bon Appetit, Your Majesty is signaling an even more thrilling development as it approaches its second act.
The popular tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (directed by Jang Tae-yu, written by fGRD, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Filmgrida, Jeong Universe) is rounding the halfway point, and we looked at the second-half viewing points to enjoy the gourmet fantasy romantic comedy even more deliciously.
First, attention is focused on the romance between Yeon Ji-young (played by Im Yoon-a) and Yi Heon (played by Lee Chae-min), who meet in the same space across time. Currently Yeon Ji-young, after a time slip, works as the head royal cook in King Yi Heon's kitchen and shares not only flavors but affection with him. In particular, Yi Heon recognized his racing feelings for Yeon Ji-young and promised he would do anything for her, moving forward without hesitation and suggesting their relationship will deepen further.
Moreover, it has been revealed that the Mangunrok that pulled Yeon Ji-young into the past was none other than a book written by King Yi Heon, making future developments even more intriguing. Yeon Ji-young still has no idea that the diary Yi Heon wrote is the Mangunrok, and as she gradually melts at Yi Heon's kindness, a romance that transcends time is eagerly anticipated.
Next, attention is focused on the result of the cooks' culinary competition that stakes the nation's fate. U-gon, a royal eunuch of greedy character (played by Kim Hyung-muk), teamed up with Je-san Daegun's (played by Choi Gwi-hwa) faction and demanded excessive tribute, proposing a cooking competition with the cooks he brought, which provoked Yi Heon's temper.
But Yi Heon also has deep trust in Yeon Ji-young's cooking, so he put forward Yeon Ji-young and the royal kitchen cooks to respond to the challenge, making the culinary duel between the two countries possible. Yeon Ji-young, who was at a loss after seeing the formidable cooks from the Ming side, fires up her competitive spirit at the provocation of Ming cook Abisu (played by Moon Seung-yu), promising extraordinary dishes. Curiosity grows over which side will seize victory after the culinary contest that determines the fate of both countries.
Finally, attention is also drawn to the direction of the power struggle within the palace. Consort Kang Mok-ju (played by Kang Han-na), who sided with Je-san Daegun, is exploiting Yi Heon's longing for his mother to induce his rampage. She has been waiting for an opportunity to eliminate Yeon Ji-young, who stands in the way of her plans. Je-san Daegun is also holding his breath, waiting for the right moment to push Yi Heon out and stage a coup, raising anxiety.
Also, Queen Dowager Inju (played by Seo Yi-sook) knows the truth surrounding the deposed queen's death and is anxious to hide it, adding tension. In addition, Im Song-jae (played by Oh Eui-sik) is seeking a way to use Yeon Ji-young, who monopolizes the king's attention, to push out Kang Mok-ju and seize power for himself, making the tangled nervy standoff's outcome noteworthy.
Starting the second half with a variety of entertainments from sweet romance to sharp contests and spicy power struggles, the tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty will air episode 7 on the 13th (Sat.) at 9:10 p.m.
