The new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Taepung Sangsa, which is generating buzz for the first acting pairing of global stars Lee Junho and Kim Min-ha, released still cuts of the two meeting for the first time.
The new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Taepung Sangsa (directed by Lee Na-jung and Kim Dong-hwi, written by Jang Hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Imaginus, Studio PIC and Tris Studio) depicts the struggling coming-of-age story of novice company executive Kang Tae-pung, who becomes the owner of a trading company in 1997 during the IMF crisis with no employees, no money and nothing left to sell. Lee Junho plays Kang Tae-pung, a young man who once enjoyed wealth and freedom but transforms into a boss bearing the lives of his employees amid the IMF crisis, and Kim Min-ha plays Oh Mi-seon, who grows from the company's accounting brain into a professional manager. The intense survival story of facing the crisis head-on is portrayed. The chemistry the two actors—who are globally recognized for their acting ability and star power—will create with the "Taepung spirit" is the main attraction of this work.
And today (12th) Taepung Sangsa released images of the moment in 1997 when Kang Tae-pung and Oh Mi-seon first met. But the two are not at the company; they are at a subway station. Tae-pung, who had been dozing while holding cosmos flowers, suddenly drops his head and rests his face on Mi-seon's shoulder as she stands in front of him. Mi-seon's surprised expression at the unexpected contact and the distance between the two characters, who do not yet know each other, create an interesting tension.
This scene was portrayed as the moment that left an unforgettable first impression on each other before the two meet again in Taepung Sangsa as a novice boss and an accounting clerk. The short chance encounter that started their connection raises curiosity and anticipation about how their relationship will lead to Taepung Sangsa and what kind of survival and growth story they will write amid the era's fierce storms.
In addition, the still cuts draw attention for their detailed styling that recreates 1997. From Tae-pung's distinctive style that swept Apgujeong-dong to Mi-seon's neat office look, and even the atmosphere and air of the subway station at the time, everything is perfectly recreated to give viewers the immersive feeling of traveling back to 1997.
The production team said, "Please watch to see how the brief brush between Tae-pung and Mi-seon leads to a relationship that will later face challenges and grow together. The process of the two becoming each other's support amid the era's storms will deliver a powerful emotional impact to viewers."
Through the passionate survival stories of ordinary people who held on to their places and did not stop living even during a crisis that made it feel as if the world had ended, Taepung Sangsa will offer warm consolation and courage to anyone going through difficult moments today. The new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama Taepung Sangsa, which follows the popular Bon Appetit, Your Majesty, will premiere on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 9:20 p.m.
