"Each Household Couple" actor Song Il-guk confessed that he has been living apart from his judge wife for two and a half years.
On the 11th broadcast of tvN STORY "Each Household Couple," the leads of the musical Mamma Mia! — Kim Jung-min, Song Il-guk, Min Yoon-gi and Kim Jin-su — appeared. Kim Jung-min took his juniors to a Chinese restaurant.
The day before the long-awaited show d-day was a run-through day. A run-through is a rehearsal performance in which the entire show is performed as if it were the real thing. Rumiko wanted to see firsthand the hardships of her husband earning insurance premiums, study abroad funds and the expenses of maintaining two households.
Kim Jung-min said, "Musical singing is different from the vocal style I've used for 30 years. At first I sang the way I usually do, and they told me, 'That's not it.' My old vocal habits keep popping up," revealing the vocal technique he practiced for the musical. Actor Lee Hyun-woo also appeared in the musical, drawing attention.
The actresses said, "Kim Jung-min is an ajusshi but seems like a boy," and "he has boyish charm," creating a warm atmosphere around Kim Jung-min. Kim Jung-min shrugged, saying, "Honestly, I don't feel moved. Lately I hear that a lot."
The run-through's harsh evaluations and directing followed. Moon So-ri empathized, saying, "Usually when actors do a run-through they say this show is ruined." Kim Jung-min surprised everyone by saying, "The head office came right away. Our show came from the U.K. the next day."
After repeated rehearsals and on the day of the d-day, Kim Jung-min prepared a meal for his juniors. Kim Jin-su teased, "You go because hyung says he'll buy you a meal, right? But not long ago he bought the director a meal and got him some beef chuck flap tail."
All of them are married, and except for Kim Jin-su, they were fathers with sons. Song Il-guk surprised everyone by confessing, "I also live a weekend lifestyle. My wife is in the provinces, and I'm taking care of the three kids. They're now first-year middle school students." Song Il-guk was performing and caring for the triplets by himself while they were in the first year of middle school.
Kim Jin-su asked, "Are you taking care of all three kids?" Song Il-guk described the practical difficulties, saying, "I don't know about other things, but I have to keep driving them because of hagwon." Rumiko said, "Yes, that's hard. Can't I be Song Il-guk's female friend?"
As a parenting senior, Kim Jung-min taught how to give love so the children don't hate each other. Song Il-guk said, "Originally you're supposed to send them to different schools. But since that's not possible, we ask the school to separate the classes for them." Kim Jung-min said, "They're not twins but there are three. One of them gets the spotlight because of sports. So we don't praise that child at home separately. We don't do it when the three are together," and added, "You should send a personal message then. If there are several children and you praise only one intensively, the others may feel deflated."
Song Il-guk said, "Even when the triplets link arms, they push my arm away," describing their adolescence. Min Yoon-gi said, "I actually asked Kim Jung-min and he told me to wait," offering a tip.
Kim Jung-min comforted Song Il-guk with weighty words, saying, "Wait a little. Soon they will come around."
