"Superman Returns" Wonder Girls marked their 20th anniversary since debut, drawing attention to how the members' lives have changed.
On the Oct. 10 broadcast of KBS2TV variety show "The Return of Superman" (hereinafter "Superman Returns"), a story appeared about a gathering of Wonder Girls members and about Shim Hyung-tak visiting a restaurant for Saya.
After spending a cozy day with Haru, Shim Hyung-tak went to a whole chicken restaurant. He familiarly called the owners there "hyungnim, hyungsunim" and told them about his connection to the restaurant.
Shim Hyung-tak said, "Saya said she wanted to eat chicken. So I looked around and found a restaurant run by a Korean-Japanese couple. They are a Korean-Japanese couple like us, and the husband courted his wife intensely," adding, "When Saya came as an international student she only had language school friends, but the wife became a big friend." In other words, Shim Hyung-tak had looked for someone to befriend Saya so she wouldn't feel lonely in Korea.
Shim Hyung-tak said, "Actually Saya told me to come visit when we fought, but I visit often. Once I went when there were many customers and they told me to stay in the small room," explaining that he rather became close with the owner couple. The owner said, "We knew Saya was having a hard time and Shim Hyung-tak tried to introduce Hiroe to her. We could tell he cares a lot for Saya," praising Shim Hyung-tak's feelings.
Woo Hye-rim became a Seoul baby ambassador. Shin Min-chul and their sons Shin-woo and Si-an were there as well. Woo Hye-rim proudly smiled, saying, "I became an ambassador at the young age of 18 months. I'm the youngest."
Woo Hye-rim said, "I didn't feel the low birthrate issue personally, but even around my neighborhood there are not enough kindergartens and pediatric clinics are disappearing, so I thought about what I could do in my position to encourage births and applied," adding with a laugh, "I'll work hard on activities."
Not to be outdone, Shin Min-chul made a special impression by appearing at the ambassador meeting with his family dressed in hanbok.
There were people who came to see Woo Hye-rim. It was the Wonder Girls members. Si-woo was shy when she saw So-hee. Woo Hye-rim said, "Si-woo gets so shy whenever she sees So-hee." So-hee treated Si-woo with the same bright charm from the 'Eomeona' part 18 years ago.
Hye-rim revealed the deep friendship among the Wonder Girls members, saying, "Sunye came and cooked home meals when I was pregnant, Yubin even helped with pick-up, but the one I remember is So-hee." Sunye, who married James Park in 2013 and is now the mother of 11-, 9- and 6-year-old daughters, held the youngest, Si-woo, very comfortably. Sunye showed the demeanor of an older sister in the same group and a parenting senior.
So-hee said, "They say you shouldn't keep a baby sitting still," and when the youngest Si-an clung to her and whined, she was at a loss. Then when Si-an fell asleep in her arms she said happily, "Si-an sleeps very well, huh? She snores. It feels so good to hold a baby," and added her thoughts, "Si-an is so gentle and clings to me well, so I kept holding her. It was so nice."
The members were amazed that it had already been 20 years. At the same time, married members Sunye and Hye-rim talked about childbirth. Sunye asked Hye-rim about plans for a third child, and Hye-rim mumbled and tilted her head. Then Sunye said bluntly, "Sure? You won't know until you have surgery," surprising everyone.
