Charlie Kirk shot dead during Utah lecture in U.S.; stars including Chris Pratt, Meghan McCain mourn in shock
Conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk (31) was shot and killed during a lecture at Utah Valley University. In the wake of the shocking news, celebrities including Chris Pratt and Meghan McCain expressed their condolences.
On the 10th local time, Kirk was answering audience questions on stage at the Utah lecture, part of the "American comeback tour," when an assailant opened fire. He was hit in the neck and ultimately died.
Actor Chris Pratt wrote on social media, "Praying for Charlie Kirk and his wife and young children. America needs God's grace right now," expressing his sorrow.
Television personality Meghan McCain also wrote, "The legacy you left will remain forever in blessing and memory," and added, "The conservative camp will never be silent. We will continue to raise our voices for God and truth, for family and country."
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy emphasized, "Regardless of political views, this is one of the darkest days in American history." British journalist Piers Morgan expressed intense anger, calling it "a horrific attack on freedom and democracy."
Former racing star Danica Patrick said, "We are facing a mental health crisis. This is so tragic," pointing to societal ills in the U.S. Boxer-turned-YouTuber Jake Paul added, "Charlie Kirk was simply speaking the truth," and prayed that the wicked would be healed.
NFL legend Brett Favre briefly wrote, "I am speechless. It is simply tragic," and Stephen King pointedly said, "There is a strong possibility the perpetrator was mentally unstable. But it is clearly another case of gun violence."
Actress Candace Cameron Bure mourned by quoting a Bible verse, "Well done, faithful servant," and Gracie Hunt, the daughter of the Kansas City team owner, quoted a psalm and wrote, "Praying for Erika and the children."
President Donald Trump, who was Kirk's close friend and political ally, wrote on social media, "The great and legendary Charlie Kirk has passed away," adding, "He understood the hearts of American youth better than anyone and was loved by all. Melania and I send our deepest condolences to his wife Erika and the family."
Kirk married 2021 Miss Arizona USA alum Erika Frantzve in 2021 and had a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son. The sudden tragedy has engulfed American society in shock and mourning.
