"Superman Returns" Wonder Girls Sunye, Yubin, Sohee and Hyerim reunited.
On the 10th episode of KBS2TV variety show "The Return of Superman" (hereinafter "Superman Returns"), the Wonder Girls members reunited with Hyerim to mark their 20th anniversary. Earlier, Hyerim shared joyful news with her family.
Hyerim and Shin Min-chul were crowned Seoul baby ambassadors together with their children. Woo Hyerim said, "I became an ambassador at the young age of 18 months. I'm the youngest," as she held the youngest, Sian, with a proud smile.
With many families gathered, Hyerim's family appeared wearing hanbok. Hyerim, who is usually fluent in English, is active in various ambassador roles, and with the current K-boom, her family's hanbok attire was special and left a strong impression.
Woo Hyerim said, "I didn't feel the low birthrate firsthand, but even around my home there are shortages of kindergartens and pediatric clinics are disappearing, so I applied after thinking about what I could do in my position to encourage births," and added, "I will work hard."
Then Shin Min-chul hung a red carpet and a banner in the house and waited for guests. When Sunye, Yubin and Sohee appeared, the studio went wild. Celebrating the Wonder Girls' 20th anniversary, their appearance was remarkable. Once dominant in the music scene, they surpassed rivals Dongbang and Big Bang in buzz, creating a nationwide sensation and, unusually for a girl group, even breaking into the U.S. market.
Sohee, who spread irresistible charm at age 15 as "Mandu Sohee," caught attention again with a still youthful appearance. It wasn't just viewers. Hyerim's eldest son Si-woo also couldn't take his eyes off Sohee. Woo Hyerim said, "Si-woo gets so shy whenever he sees Sohee." Sohee, actually seeing Si-woo for the first time, greeted him warmly. Sunye nodded and said, "Kids' eyes are really accurate."
Hyerim said, "Sunye came when I was pregnant and even cooked homemade meals for me, Yubin helped with pick-up from kindergarten, but the one I remember is Sohee," hinting at how close the Wonder Girls members had been.
Hyerim hosted a special outing for the Wonder Girls members. It was the former JYP building in Cheongdam-dong. Sunye said, "All of my childhood is in here. It's our childhood," choking up, and Hyerim introduced it, saying, "It's a special place for me. It's Cheongdam-dong. We joined Wonder Girls, practiced together here, and have many good memories and sad memories."
While they were eating, they asked about Hyerim's plans for more children. Hyerim said, "Ideally I wanted a brother and sister. I also had an older brother," and Sunye asked, "So no third child?" Hyerim said, "Um, no," but Sunye added, "Are you sure? You won't know until you have surgery," leaving Hyerim embarrassed.
Meanwhile Yubin expressed her wish to have a son to play soccer with, and Sohee wondered aloud, "If I have a child, I prefer two rather than one, but can I raise a child?"
