Choreographer Monika shared the latest on the pets she raised.
On the 10th, the "이게진짜최종" channel uploaded a video titled "The ex-boyfriend dog I miss...".
That day on the "Pajama Party" South Korea's first transgender entertainer Harisu and choreographer Monika appeared as guests and talked about their pets.
Kim Ddolddol asked Monika, "That clip was famous, wasn't it? The dogs reunited after three years. I watched it and cried my eyes out. What were you feeling?" Previously, Monika had said she gave up custody of the pets Samantha and Julien after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend.
She said, "Actually, Samantha was a dog that meant a lot to me, so I was very attached to her, but my ex-boyfriend was also very fond of Samantha and he said he would raise her, so he did, and he raised her very well. The reason I could give her up then was that his place was by the sea. Samantha smelled the sand and always played freely at the beach, so I conceded for that. But when I saw her again, it was chaos. I missed her so much, and it was so shocking that this dog remembered me that I think that's why I cried. The moment she saw me she ran to me just like before, so all my defenses fell and my emotions exploded," she said.
Kim Ddolddol asked, "If you break up, there could be a tussle over custody like with children—someone might say they want to take the dog. Do you have any advice on that?" Monika said, "The realistic thought is that whoever makes the environment better is more likely to get the pet. I also tend to concede. If I had to give a tip, it's about who is better at taking care of the pet. Whoever takes better care of it will have more to say later. Don't rely too much on a boyfriend or girlfriend just because they take good care of the dog. If you love it, express that love so you can appeal it later," she advised.
Kim Ddolddol asked about the pets they raised, saying, "I heard Seonhae and Chakae are at the in-laws' house." Monika explained, "They've been apart for about six to seven months. The problem was that Chakae had a bit of a nip. As the baby's birth approached, we discussed it and decided to leave them with the in-laws because we didn't yet know the child's temperament or allergies, and we thought it would be better to do it gradually before anyone got seriously sick. We talked about it at length before deciding."
Kim Ddolddol said, "Do you know what babycare with a pet is? When you see reels or TikToks of a big dog with a newborn lying on its belly and cuddling, it looks so nice." Monika candidly replied, "When I see retrievers protecting babies I also want that, but realistically Seonhae and Chakae have never given birth. They were neutered right away. So I couldn't really feel whether Seonhae and Chakae have maternal instincts or can protect something smaller than themselves. Dogs have different temperaments."
Meanwhile, Monika drew attention last December when she announced her marriage and pregnancy at the same time. She later welcomed her first child in April and received many congratulations.
