'Radio Star' actor Shim Hyung-tak said he and his wife Saya are planning a second child.
On the Oct. 10 broadcast of MBC variety show 'Radio Star,' in a special titled "Rich-hearted dad, poor-bodied dad," Kim Soo-yong, Lim Hyung-jun, Shim Hyung-tak and Kim In-man appeared, and Shim Hyung-tak shared daily life with his wife Saya and their son Haru.
That day Shim Hyung-tak said that since becoming a father he is living a second heyday and said, "I grants on 'The Return of Superman,' and for three months it recorded the highest ratings. At moments the ratings exceeded 5%," expressing pride.
He added, "Actually, my wife was very worried about revealing the child. Japanese celebrities usually don't reveal their families. But Korean variety shows show families or real life. So at first she couldn't understand appearing herself."
And when the much-anticipated first broadcast began, Shim Hyung-tak said he was at his in-laws' house in Japan at the time and said, "After a few days in Japan people recognized Haru. They came to my in-laws' place and took pictures. On the flight home I couldn't be seen. Everyone only looked at Haru. They called, 'Haru, Haru.'"
When Kim Guk-jin said Haru looked like a character out of a comic book, Shim Hyung-tak bragged about appearance, saying, "First of all, my wife looks like a cartoon." He added, "I have actually been an actor for 25 years. If I only post my photos on my social media, I don't get likes. If I post my child's photos, I get tens of thousands of likes," and Lim Hyung-jun, hearing this, empathized, saying, "I once posted only my photos and took them down," drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, Shim Hyung-tak said he and his wife Saya practice a Korean-Japanese hybrid self-childcare method, drawing attention. He explained, "They are completely different. Korea supports postnatal helpers for two months from the state. But my wife absolutely refused. In Japan they don't often use babysitters. The idea of entrusting a child to another's hands itself…"
He continued, "They only perform cesarean sections when the mother is in danger, and they rarely use epidural anesthesia. My wife really said let's raise the child with our own strength, so since leaving the postpartum care center we have never entrusted the child to anyone else even once. I've lost count of how many times I've had nosebleeds," he lamented.
Shim Hyung-tak said, "From 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. I definitely watched him. Every time he woke up I kept holding him, and if I had a shoot I went to the shoot like that," and said he even makes baby food himself. When asked if he had tried to persuade his wife, he said, "When I look at my wife's face she listens to me. She's so pretty," revealing his doting side.
Kim Gu-ra said, "That's why men fall for beauty schemes from long ago," and Shim Hyung-tak asked Kim Guk-jin, "Don't you do that, Guk-jin hyung?" Kim Guk-jin replied, "I sympathize with Shim Hyung-tak's story."
In particular, Shim Hyung-tak confessed he is planning a second child this year. At 47, he said, "Being the youngest here seems remarkable. Even though I'm fairly old, Lim Hyung-jun is young so he told me to have more in the future."
Shim Hyung-tak, who is 18 years older than his wife Saya, said, "My wife is ambitious. We agreed to have three. My wife wanted four but we agreed on three," and added, "I want to have a large family. Right now I want to receive family love."
